I don't see how Coolidge could be responsible for the Stock Market crash which happened in 1929.

I don't hold him responsible for prohibition either.

Is it really the presidents business to frustrate the will of the people? The enactment of prohibition was the result of a huge social movement , there were a lot of people who thought it was a success. Absenteeism at work and accidents of all kinds were down.

It was established law at the highest level of American law.

Now if he was lax at enforcement , that is more like a problem.

When we have had weak presidents, then Congress has taken up control, which is how we ended up with the Civil War. Buchanan declared war in the Mormons, but Congress passed a law making any discussion of slavery impossible because of t many disruptions, some of the life-threatening. A weak or ineffective president does not make for a weak government, and frequently has resulted in a spineless Congress that refuses to address the issues.

The Civil War started promptly after the election of the strongest and boldest President we ever elected.

The seeds of the conflict were sown long before anyone alive in 1863 was born.

The Civil War was not caused by Lincoln. It was provoked by Lincoln's election before Lincoln even took office.
Lincoln 39.8% of the vote in an election in which here were four candidates. Lincoln's strength was unknown when the war started.
John Bell and Stephen Douglas together got 42.7% of the vote, and either of them would possibly not have provoked the fools in SC to secede. but of course, the idiot Electoral College decided the election.

The Congress passed a gag order on discussion of the issue of slavery to prevent them from killing one another. This cause the population to dedidicate themselves to killing one another.

Because weak presidents in the 1840's and 1850's, Congress screwed around and did nothing except fight one another.
