The "Ayatollahs " of Iran are the chief backers of Syria's Assad regime.

    We got few friends there.

Iran and Assad are our pals in Syria, but both support Hezbollah.
Nonsense.
The US should NOT support Assad.

There are too many factions in Syria, and none of them would have enough support to run the country. There is no majority on any issue, except I am pretty sure all Syrians want the Israelis to return the land they stole.

The US should NOT support Assad.

If the alternative is ISIS then the US should certainly support  secular Assad.

  No
Assad is a mess.

The Syrians have a policy of shooting doctors and nurses in enemy territory, so that medical treatment is only available where the Government controls the care.

Heard that on NPR this evening .

That government is also dropping improvised blockbusters out of helicopters onto residences.

It is important that Isis get killed , it would be good also if Bashir Assad moved to Moscow.

The people of Syria really don't deserve this , they are merely tired of decades of cruel and incompetent government, I would fight too. (I like to think so.)

Isis is the interloper taking a place in the power vacuum that our withdrawal produced in Iraq, and co-opting the honest revolution that Syria was straining to produce.

Our next president ought to be a good general, or at least someone who can tell when he is talking to a good general.

What we need and what we are going to get might be different.

No one who can actually run Syria has any chance of winning.

The skillset needed to run a country well is entirely different from the one needed to oust Assad ans take his place.

Mao was an EXCELLENT military tactician. He was a total disaster at running the PRC.

What Syria needs would be like another Ataturk. But Ataturk appealed to the Turkish majority.
There are no majorities in Syria. It is a hodgepodge of Sunnis, Shias, Alawites, Druses, Christians, Turkmen, Zahidis and some I am sure I left out.

Assad is an ogre. CU4 likes strongmen. He also likes smaller, weaker governments, for some weird reason.

Assad should be replaced by some military genius who then dies and control is passed on to someone who has the balancing skills needed to run a disorganized society like Syria.
