The important thing here is not whether People in the US think the war is "winnable", but whether the war is in any way likely to end more favorably if we pump in an undetermined quantity of dollars at the rate of $8 billion per month.
And the answer to that is no if one is a conservative and sadly no if one is a liberal.
The US cannot end the Iraqi Civil War by supporting both sides. If it supports the Shiites, Iran will be the real winner. If not, Saudi Arabia's repressive king is the winner.
The Americans who vote, voted to end this inane and useless war in 2004, The rest are too lazxy to vote, and have self-declared themselves to be irrelevant by not voting.
