There really is global warming. If you lived in Miami, you could not deny this. We had exactl;y 10 really cold days last winter. When I came here in 1976, there was over a month of cold days. It even snowed in 1977.

This past winter, for a string of about 4 weeks, the daily high in Isanti, MN was higher than the daily high for Charlotte, NC.

Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.

All four agencies that track Earth's temperature (the Hadley Climate Research Unit in Britain, the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, the Christy group at the University of Alabama, and Remote Sensing Systems Inc in California) report that it cooled by about 0.7C in 2007. This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record and it puts us back where we were in 1930. If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over.

No, actually, we will not have to conclude that. A 10 or 20 year cooling span in a larger warming cycle, say one taking a couple hundred years, would not be out of line. At least, not as I understand the way these things happen. Please don't misunderstand me. Mr. Chapman may well be correct in that the planet may be entering a long term cooling period. But 10 years, 20 years is not a long term period for the planet. I doubt very much that 10 years of level or falling temperatures is enough to say that the planet is now starting a new ice age.

Shows CO₂ spikes similar to those currently seen in prehistoric times, along with global warming, also in prehistoric times. Shows that this is cyclical and not related to industry (unless the saber-tooth tigers and woolly mammoths were building factories).
