Polling Data Explained . . .
« on: September 10, 2008, 10:07:45 AM »
. . . as I suspected, the polling techniques have been changed to give Republicans a better chance at looking good.  The basic trick is to pack more Republicans than previously into the polling sample.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/09/poll-madness-mccain-takes_n_125158.html

I was kind of suspicious of the "new polls" - - The country is totally fucked by eight years of Republican misrule, war and torture, McCain picks some unknown 1-term Governor and suddenly an old fart becomes the hot candidate?  Americans CAN'T be that stupid, yet the polls were showing a solid Democratic lead erased, seemingly over trivialities.

Smoke and mirrors, apparently.  Obama's  on the right track and he's gotta stay on that track.  If Palin is dumb enough to compare herself to an animal in lipstick, Obama will at least tell her the right animal to pick.  While at the same time, cleverly making his main point, the sheer absurdity of these Republicans now pretending to be - - not the party of experience any more - - but the party of "change."

So let me get this right.

You are saying that the polls were heavily weighted in the dems favor in previous rounds.

The polls now are still weighted in the dems favor but by not as much.

So now the results are bogus?

Sorry to piss in your Cheerios, but the reason the pollsters are weighting their polls with a higher percentage of Republicans is because there's now a greater number of Republicans.

Pollsters always do and always have weighted their polls to reflect party affiliation. Nothing to see here folks, move along....

No, the article I linked to deals with that.  The Democratic registrations are way ahead of the Republican registrations.  The sampling apparently doesn't run on the number of adherents belonging to either party.

I took it to mean that the polls were previously non-politically weighted but when Republicans wanted to show a surge, the weighting changed so the data would demonstrate a surge.

Obama is not in trouble. He is not running scared. This is nothing more than hot air: Republican propaganda. The political equivalent of a Zima commercial.

Never in the history of this country has a political party so richly deserved to go down in smoke and flames as the asshole Republicans. It is they who are flailing about in desperation, pretending to be for change, when they did nothing to change anything except for the worse for the last seven years.

You really like to play mind games but sadly you are doing it to yourself. I hope it helps you cope.

The woman was understandably upset and emotional, not thinking too clearly.  In the light of day, after things cool down, she'll have to choose between voting for the party of the rich, the racists, the fascists and the militarists or voting for the party that recogizes her human dignity, gave the blacks a lift out of oppression and stands for real change at home and in America's criminal foreign policy.  She knows the colour of the Republican Party, she knows what their policies really mean to blacks and women, no matter how high a profile they give their Uncle Toms and their moose-huntin' mommas.  In reality, the Democrats are for her and the GOP is against her.  She's not stupid.
