Session one starts off strong with a presentation when designing LED luminaries, thermal management is critical to long term reliability. Cost, efficiency and lumen output are all considerations that can affect how a luminary will perform long term. Minimizing the thermal resistance path from the High Power LED and assuring long term reliability can be achieved by selecting the optimum MCPCB combination of metal base plate and dielectric material. Ceramic sub mount packages in particular are prone to solder joint fatigue and failure during thermal cycling. This session will explore the critical issue of thermal cycling, its effects and alternatives in an in-depth webinar.
