Soon after Sarah Palin was elected mayor of the foothill town of Wasilla, Alaska, she startled a local music teacher by insisting in casual conversation that men and dinosaurs coexisted on an Earth created 6,000 years ago -- about 65 million years after scientists say most dinosaurs became extinct -- the teacher said.

After conducting a college band and watching Palin deliver a commencement address to a small group of home-schooled students in June 1997, Wasilla resident Philip Munger said, he asked the young mayor about her religious beliefs.

Palin told him that "dinosaurs and humans walked the Earth at the same time," Munger said. When he asked her about prehistoric fossils and tracks dating back millions of years, Palin said "she had seen pictures of human footprints inside the tracks," recalled Munger, who teaches music at the University of Alaska in Anchorage and has regularly criticized Palin in recent years on his liberal political blog, called Progressive Alaska.

The idea of a "young Earth" -- that God created the Earth about 6,000 years ago, and dinosaurs and humans coexisted early on -- is a popular strain of creationism.

Though in her race for governor she called for faith-based "intelligent design" to be taught along with evolution in Alaska's schools, Gov. Palin has not sought to require it, state educators say.

I guess that she has not repeated this when someone told her it made her look stupid.

People like you that voted for Obama are gullible. Like we are supposed to believe someone that likely has a left leaning agenda?

Let's see here, back in 1992 a man spoke with a women the knows another women the saw Obama pick his nose and devour the booger.

Whose Job is it?
To refudiate Palin myths?

Oh him, he will.

5.Palin pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska's schools. Or to be more accurate, according to Matt Damon, she believes dinosaurs roamed the Earth 4,000 years ago.

Nope, you dope. In an interview on 27 Oct 2006,

Palin said she meant only to say that discussion of alternative views should be allowed to arise in Alaska classrooms: "I don't think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn't have to be part of the curriculum."

She added that, if elected, she would not push the state Board of Education to add such creation-based alternatives to the state's required curriculum.

Now this was said almost two years ago which I agree with and I'm an atheist. What's wrong with allowing the discussion to come up? If someone wants to debate how many angels can fir on the head of a pin, let them go at it. Why let someone harbor primitive ideas in their head when it can be brought out into the clear light of argument and discussion?

Is it true that Obama & Palin will dance together next season on Dancing with the Stars?

It is a waste of time to give a source for anything to some people. Even after they have read the source, it turns out that I am wrong and stupid to believe the source, because it was not their source or some such crapola. Then you post some dumbassed photoshopped bogus picture as though that were the cleverest thing in the world, even though everyone knows it is bogus.

Palin seems to have made a comment to a teacher in Wasilla. Then when questioned about it, she denies it, because they have told her not to say stupid things.

Believe it or not.

Given that the source currently is Xo minus any other credible source, I guess we're left with believe not

The source was Phillip Munger. He seems to be the only person in Wasilla that recalls the vent. And he has profited handsomely from his recollection.

I tend to be skeptical of folks like that.

I am pretty sure that Sara Palin has never gone ballroom danceing with Barak H Obama even though I have seen a picture of it.

I am simularly pretty sure that Sara Palin has not said nearly half of the dumb things attributed to her, it is even easyer to misquote than it is to photoshop a picture.

Political activism

Munger currently serves with the Alaska Democratic Party as secretary of Mat-Su Democrats and of District 13 (Greater Palmer).[14] He worked on the 2008 campaign of Diane Benson for Alaska's U.S. congressional seat.[15] In August 2008, with the selection of Alaska governor Sarah Palin as John McCain's vice-presidential running mate, Munger began a series on his political blog Progressive Alaska entitled "Saradise Lost" heavily critical of Palin. Readership of his blog went from 2,800 readers during the week prior to Palin's pick, to 92,000 readers in the week leading up to the November 2008 presidential election. "Saradise Lost" was later used by Eric Boehlert in his 2009 book on political bloggers, Bloggers on the Bus:How the Internet Changed Politics and the Press, as the title for the chapter on Alaska political blogging, which discussed Munger's blogging activities along with those of other prominent Alaska bloggers credited with pioneering reporting on Palin's candidacy.[15]

Because of his primary blog, he now writes for Daily Kos and firedoglake as well as other progressive outlets.
