What moron planned this trip for young kids?
Hell most adults would be horrified the way we treat and process animals.
It is not a pretty sight.
Of course the ying/yang haunts/gets revenge on humanity over this horror
I work with a guy that worked at Pilgrims Pride Chicken plant
and he said he will never eat another chicken nugget or chicken finger
He said it was ghastly what goes on....
I dont see how they find people to work in these death houses

A goal (outside of that of the parents) of trying to turn kids into vegetarians?

I'm open to hearing other rationales, but none come to mind in making more sense than the above theory.

If I were one of the parents, I'd be livid, if I wasn't informed of precisely what the kids were going to be exposed to.  It's not the school's job/responsibility/anything to facilitate the kids to form opinions attitidues of what they should believe.  They're there to teach reading, writing, math, science, arts, and physical education.  All else is the domain of the parents.  Except of course to the elitists who think they simply know better

every time kids in my family goes on a trip they need parental premission slips signed.

unless laws are different in nebraska. the parents can`t complain since they were informed before hand.

but this brings back memories of my time at the chicken plant. thiers is very few smells that is worst then that. not only is it bad but it automaticlly activate the gag reflexes .

Informed of an impending trip perhaps.  But if the slip indicates the kids are simply going to a farm, to perhaps observe livestock, and watch "how a farm works", I wouldn't have any problems with that.

This was a grotesque & inexcusable "education", that I'd like to know what parents knew in advance their kids would be witness to.  If the parents did know what was going to be seen by their kids, then the issue here is with the Parents, not the school

exactly.

a slaughter house is not normally a common part of a farm so doubtful thier would be misleading wording on a permission slip

I'd have to see the "permission slip" and precisely what the kids were to be seeing.  Did such a slip specifically indicate slaughterhouse?  Or was it merely referencing some form of farm, the kids would be visiting?

From the story:

>>The children were escorted through the facility from the loading bay, where cattle enter the building, through to the stunning process where the animals receive a pneumatic bolt to the brain, rendering them brain dead. "Some of the kids started crying then." said slaughterhouse foreman Dan Smith. "We told them it was all a natural part of how beef is made and ends up in yummy hamburgers, but that didn't seem to help much."

The field trip then went awry after the brain dead animals were chained up by their back legs and then cut into to be bled to death. "I saw one little boy throw up." Smith said. "And then after that there was screaming and running and all these other kids throwing up all over the place. We tried to calm them down but it was out of control by then. These kids were just freaked out, they didn't even finish the tour."<<

Ha ha, funny story.

Notice it pretends to be from Omaha, Neb. Taking a field trip to a slaughterhouse in Omaha is like taking a field trip to the USS Constitution in Boston. Part of the landscape.

How strange that others did not.
