Anyone can agree that Myanmar is an incompetently run, oppressive dictatorship, and the sooner it gets rid of the SLORC, the better.
I have heard that the main reason for the SLORC moving the capital, renaming the country,and changing the names of so many places was due to some astrologer's advice about how this would bring them luck. I'd say that is pretty backward.
Of course, not all the people in Burma were Burmese. The Burmese are merely the most prevalent group.
