What is being frowned upon is the use of the images of those coffins on the tarmac as emotionional instead of logical arguments against the war.

You have the casualty figures. You have arrival times. What you don't have is a money shot. And that has been gone for a while.
==================================================================================
BULLSHIT!
This stupid war was begun based on emotion, FEAR, in addition to bogus "facts" about nonexistent weaponry of all sorts: biological, chemical and even atomic. There has never been anything remotely logical connected with this misbegotten war or the election of the incompetent, ignorant, and thieving clowns that mongered it.

The image of the hundreds of coffins is every bit as much a part of the news as the sweating Nixon saying "I am not a crook" or, if you prefer, the Zapruder tape, or even the nervous and testy Clinton saying "I did not have sex with that woman".

You would have howled loud and long if the Clinton statement had been censored, and lives were not threatened as they are in the continuance of this misbegotten, stupid war.

Images are NEWS, and that news is being CENSORED.

And saying that this is not censorship is just

BULLSHIT!
and you know this.
You are not so stupid that you do not know this.

BULLSHIT!

I'm sure the incoming congress can change the rules about alllowing emotion laden exploitive photos of incoming coffins to be taken on the tarmac of dover.

That should make you happy!

It is not just the censorship of coffins that this bunch of clowns need to change. They have made huge amounts of what should be public information secret, including a lot of stuff about their own crimes and misdemeanors.

And I repeat: if Clinton had censored his "I did not have sex with that woman" tape as Juniorbush has censored the photos of anonymous flag-draped coffins you would howl with indignation.

This war is not worth the lives it has already cost.

The "mighty surge" that they are planning is going to be like the Nazi's final desperate push for the Battle of the Bulge. And I doubt that it will be much more successful.

After this, they won't be able to prolong it much longer. They will have shot the final wad.

And after that, if we need people to fight in another area, against another foe, we do...what, exactly?  We've depleted our Army to what end?

The fact is that Juniorbush and Cheney have f*cked up everything. We may have to turn the One & Only Superpower title over to the Chinese without so much as a fight.
Or even a lawsuit.
And we'll still have to pay the bill for all that Wal*Mart stuff we bought as well.

Eventually we will drag Scalia and Thomas out of their fancy digs and drown the sumbitches in the Reflecting Pool for putting these assh*les in the Whitehouse.

Dumbsh*ts!

But i thought that was what you wanted?

Is it just easier to carp about stuff than change it, especially when you have the power to do so?

I'm pretty sure you will complain about that too. Unless a democrat sends us to war.

And if we need more troops Rangel has his bill ready.

That's a good answer. Reinstate the draft.

What else could we do, if we needed to defend ourselves and we'd shot our  bolt in Iraq?

Just tie every damned Neocon available, Scalia, Thomas, Rove, Juniorbush and Cheney to the front of huge SUVs, like in the Mad Max movie, put a brick on the accelerator and aim it for the enemies.

Our Chinese creditors will defend us.

We don't need anyone to fight, anywhere. We never frigging did.

If it had not been for assholes like Olebush, the Neocons, and the goddamn  fools that take all their orders from the Israelis, there would have been no 9-11. There would have been no Iraq war.

Who says we have shot our bolt in Iraq.

And if we needed to defend ourselves i guess we could have endless rounds of handwringing, debating whether diplomacy should be given another chance.

Generals: More troops needed in Iraq
Commanders made their decision before meeting with Defense Secretary Gates.

[..............................]

Gen. James T. Conway, the new commandant of the Marine Corps and a member of the Joint Chiefs, emphasized the drawbacks of adding troops in public comments last week.

"We would fully support, I think, as the Joint Chiefs, the idea of putting more troops into Iraq if there is a solid military reason for doing that, if there is something to be gained," he said. "We do not believe that just adding numbers for the sake of adding numbers — just thickening the mix — is necessarily the way to go."

Like Conway, Gen. Peter J. Schoomaker, the Army chief of staff, has said extra troops must be given a clearly defined mission.

"We would not surge without a purpose," Schoomaker said recently. "And that purpose should be measurable."

Conway suggested that adding troops now would mean the military would be less ready to deploy in the future.

"You better make sure your timing is right," he said. "Because if you commit the reserve for something other than a decisive win or to stave off defeat, then you have essentially shot your bolt."

Whoop dee do for General Conway.

If you call up the reserves you call up the reserves. That is what they are for. I fail to see how that will break the army.

The regular Marines told me that the Japanese lost WWII because they had more reservists. ( That means they cant fight in Jarhead lingo)

Who says we have shot our bolt in Iraq.

==========================================
I say that if they try a massive surge and it succeeds, then they will start making plans to leave, and even when it becomes totally obvious that the Iraqis will not defend their so-called "democracy", then the snowball will be in motion headed down the mountain, and there will be no stopping it. The public has no stomach to approve of TWO surges.

On the other hand, if said massive surge obviously doesn't work, then again, they will have to leave as well.

That is why I say unto you, hear me once and listen to me twice, that the surge is the proverbial wad.

And shot once, it cannot be shot twice.

This war cannot be won, regardless of the bravery of the Army or the tenacity of the Marines, by force of arms.

It depends on the cohesion that Iraqis have for their ruined country. No amount of American weaponry or courage will serve to stick together what the Iraqis don't want stuck together.

It doesn't matter to me whether Iraq is one country or three or four or sixty. But it is not my country and it is not up to me.

Those of you who want a unitary Iraq should have not approved so slavishly this stupid, stupid war.

There is still a chance to save Afghanistan, but I hardly think that this will be done once the Great Surgewad has been shot.

I see no statuary of Juniorbush or Cheney likely in any place, other than the obligatory "library". They will probably have to put tthe Juniorbush's inside, where it can be guarded. There will be no statues of the snarling Cheney. He will be as forgotten as Hannibal Hamlin, if not more so.

Wha says a unitary Iraq is a procondition of victory? You are correct that it is their business. As long as it is determined democratically, i don't have a problem with it.
