Playing Hardball With the "New Civility"

By Doug Powers  -  January 21, 2011

Now that we've settled down and gotten away from any images and metaphorical rhetoric that may
or may not shove lunatics over the edge, somebody might want to tip off one of the main authors
of that memo that the "new civility" is now underway.

HAP has a screen grab from the opening segment of last night's Chris Matthews show:

And what exactly is "fire on the right" supposed to imply?

Will MSNBC issue an apology for this viciously unnecessary call to violence?
Nah, but CNN just might on their behalf.

Matthews, true to the demand for a new political tone to cool off the "climate of hate,"
also referred to Michele Bachmann as a nut case.

You realize C, how this is really a strategy being employed by the left and helped along with the MSM.  You couldn't turn a corner, during the last administration and not hear Bush referred to as Nazi & war criminal, not see a drawing of him with a hitler-stache, not hear him referred to as a monkey, or worse.  Where were the calls for civility then??  Naaaa, folks exercising the 1st amendment rights to dissent.  But boy oh boy, you have 1 Dem congress critter, say he heard the N-word, and whalaa, the T-party is racist.  1 poster that has Obama looking like Hitler or Stalin, and good god, the MSM throws a hissy fit.  1 22yr/old psychopath shoots a Dem congress critter he's been obsessed with for years, and whalaa, its talk radio and Palin to blame

But the left is losing....in the area of debate.  They're losing their grip on policy, as more and more polling indicates, NO to new taxes, NO to more government spending, YES to cuts in government spending.  So, this NEW effort to facilitate "civil debate" is a slight of hand effort to make this about how conservative debate is what's vile, that conservative ideas are abhorrent.

At least that's my take

BTW, did you hear who's going to take over for Keith Olberdork?

Fire on the right?

Reminds me of this one...

"Fire at will!"

"No don't!" said Will.

Firing at Will would be a good thing.

After forty years of listening to George Will, he should be fired, if not fired upon. An end to his stupid baseball analogies wpould be especially pleasant to not hear.

"if not fired upon"

Can you explain what you mean by this?

Apparently XO understood "fire in the right" and a target superimposed on the Congress as a clear call to shoot somebody.
