I disagree....IF what I heard was true....that the plan didn't originally include the 20extra soldiers.  That it was Obama that requested the additional soldiers and weaponry, in case the SEAL's came under Pakistani attack.

IF that's what actually happened

While reaction forces can play an important role with special forces in general they aren't SOP in this kind of operation. This kind of thing revolves around speed and stealth. In order to be fast you have to go in light. In order to be stealthy the whole operation has to be run lean.

Obama, and whoever else requested the addition of a quick reaction force, didn't want to see any of America's finest being dragged through the streets of Abbottabad in the form of a corpse like they were in Somalia.

btw, Kramer, why don't you see if you can be a tad less negative, and a bit more positive, for a change?

I am positively HOPING for CHANGE in 2012. And that would mean Obama is put into pasture.

As far as your logic about the backup forces, it seems like a no brainer that Obama (considering he wants to get reelected) wouldn't want anyone left behind to be paraded before cameras, dead or alive. So having the back-up team in place to extract the seal team only makes sense. So no, I don't give him much credit for doing the obvious. But on the other hand, for him it was a great feat, considering generally speaking, everything he touches turns to shit.

I would say that the quote from Bush makes it pretty clear that he was not exactly "relentless" in his pursuit of UBL.

Would you agree or not that what is said and what happens behind the scenes often times are not congruent? If you don't then I am telling you that happens to be the case more often than not.

If he had been relentless, he would have caught the guy, already.

I note that this was not the case.

oh well, Obama gets credit for killing our economy & UBL. Personally I'd rather the economy were alive and well over UBL being dead.
