undated handout photo provided by the Smithsonian Institution shows a carved image, at least 13,000 years old, found in Vero Beach, Fla. Some of the earliest Americans turned out to have been artists. The bone fragment with the carved image of a mammoth or mastodon, may be the first of its kind found in North America, a new study reports. (AP Photo/Smithsonian)

Mammoths in Florida?

Hmmm. I don't think they have found any mastodon or mammoth fossils here. It is unlikely that some creative Indian would have invented this.

Still, it makes me want to scribble some pictures of Jayhawks, Jackalopes and Spongebob on rocks for the archeologists of 12000 AD to ponder.
