If it appeared to me that it was going to be used for some evil purpose, I would refuse to translate it. I would not translate instructions informing Al Qaeda operatives to make a bomb, for example.
I translated a lot of stupid advertising hype and crap about time share condos one would have to be a moron to buy into Spanish for 6 cents per word over a couple of years back in the 80's, though.
There was also an informercial for some phony diet crap I translated into English as well. I figured that anyone with a brain would have to be a fool to send money into any of these.
I would not be opposed to translating Mormon or Jack Chick stuff into either language. Religions don't normally harm anyone, after all. But I never got an offer. As a rule, missionary groups get their stuff done for free. Not necessarily all that well done, but passable.
What I refused to translate was anyone who promised payment previously and did not deliver within a week after promised. If you them to sue to get paid, I won't work for them more than once.
