I think it is an anomaly but let's be real, it's long overdue.

The present course is unsustainable, Revenues will have to be raised as spending is cut deeper. These are interesting times, no?

  Raising revenue might be nice , but not if it amounts to no more than the government demanding a bigger wedge of a shrinking pie.

SS and Medicare will have to be made sustainable transitioned and redefined.
And the federales  should not be allowed to misappropriate those funds any longer. Respect the lockbox.

  Besides, a AAA rating has nothing to do with how well citizens are treated , it has to do with how much risk a lender must accept.

makes sense since it`s borrowing,not making money to pay debts.Sadly I do believe alot of people still don`t know credit does not equal money still.

Once upon a time there was a ss trust fund, now it is accounted for in the general fund.

What is the amount of iou's owed to SS?
Where is that money to come from looking at current demographics?

And the rating does have to do with how well a borrower manages it's money, and that has a direct bearing on how well it treats it's citizens.
