I see Obama is being criticized by the congressional Republicans - and some Democrats - for taking off on a 10-day vacation.

Seems kind of stupid to me, since at this point in their administrations, Obama has only spent 61 days on vacation, compared to Reagan's 112 and George W. Bush's 180 days.

Oh, and besides, isn't congress itself in recess for the next couple of months?

Whatever, but I'm sure Bush still conducted his presidential duties when he was at his home in Crawford Texas, where he spent most of his vacations. But if you want to take a pencil to the costs of Bush's vacations at Crawford versus Obama in exotic places like Hawaii I think you would be stunned out how much more Barry's vacations cost taxpayers. And further, Obama clearly likes the finer things in life (especially when the taxpayers are paying the tab) and it just looks bad when unemployment is so high, the economy is tanking, and spending has skyrocketed under his leadership or lack of. But hey, go ahead let him knock himself out, and the voters will decide. I like it that people point things like this out because that is what all political opposition does. I betcha Obama himself said a few choice words about the vacations Bush took and now he's doing exactly what he gave Bush a hard time for.

I would be happy to go back to the Bush days (from 01-08) along with his unemployment numbers and his excessive vacation time off compared to Obama's stats.

Only a moron would vote for Obama in 2012. Guess what, Bush isn't running either!

Ami, while it was nice to read (not watch) the CBS report giving the actual numbers, I don't recall any mention of the fact that those members of congress spending their time attacking Obama are on their own, months-long recess. I don't like most of President Obama's initiatives , so I hope he takes a looong vacation and turns his cell phone off.

Good point. Had he left for vacation earlier yesterday, and kept his mouth shut (for once), the Stock Market might not have gone down over 400 points. Every time he opens his mouth something bad happens.
