I understand parents want the right to use any name,but thats a definately troubled childhood waiting to happen. I think even in germany thats troublesome.

In Germany, you cannot name your children Adolf Hitler or Heinrich Himmler. That is illegal, as are swastikas and other Nazi logos.

Here in the US it is just really stupid.

The children were removed because of allegations of violence in the home. The names of the children is a nice hook for the story but it isn't the whole story.

You are right. It takes a crazy person to name their kids as they did, but it does not mean that they were necessarily abusive parents.
