Things are hardly bad. When things are bad regarding a currency collapse, what happens is that interest rates soar and the currency about to collapse declines in value against other currencies.

This is not happening now. Interest is low. Newspapers are advertising 1.5% on CDs as a real bargain.

What is kinda bad is all the stupid propaganda.

Would all these rich Chinese be coming here with their money mostly in dollars if things were worse here than in China?

Don't fall for the propaganda.

It's no a matter of degree. I stated earlier the business in china is changing unfavorably for some business owners. Quite afew will not survive the shift. Several have been executed already.

China has over a billion people and lots of businesses.

In the best of times, some businesses will fail, and the PRC government being as harsh as it is, some will be executed.

Some of them will most certainly deserve some sort of punishment. Foxcomm was found to have been ordering workers to clean touchscreens with a highly toxic chemical rather than alcohol. That deserves some sort of punishment, I'd say.

Total economic collapse has only occurred following a major mi8litary defeat.

In Argentina, the peso declined from $1.00  US to US 33¢.

I think you have an error of fact there.

Economic collapse has happened without military defeat.

Not a total economic collapse.

And before any economic collapse, interest rates skyrocket.

     Oh?

I think you are leaving out about 50% of the possibilitys and many historical examples.

After WWI the economic collapse was just as bad for the winners as for the defeated.
    And the Defeated recovered faster.

There was no economic collapse of the currency in the UK after WWI.

There was a degree of inflation in France.

Germany experienced hyperinflation around 1923, five years after the Armistice.

Hungary had rhe worst hyperinflation of all after WII:
Hungary, 1945–46
Main article: Hungarian peng? hyperinflation

Hungary went through the worst inflation ever recorded between the end of 1945 and July 1946. In 1944, the highest denomination was 1,000 peng?. By the end of 1945, it was 10,000,000 peng?. The highest denomination in mid-1946 was 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 peng?. A special currency the adópeng? – or tax peng? – was created for tax and postal payments.[23] The value of the adópeng? was adjusted each day, by radio announcement. On 1 January 1946 one adópeng? equaled one peng?. By late July, one adópeng? equaled 2,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 2×1021 peng?. When the peng? was replaced in August 1946 by the forint, the total value of all Hungarian banknotes in circulation amounted to 1/1,000 of one US dollar.[24] It is the most severe known incident of inflation recorded, peaking at 1.3 × 1016 percent per month (prices double every 15 hours).[25] The overall impact of hyperinflation: On 18 August 1946, 400,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 4×1029 (four hundred octillion (short scale)) peng? became 1 forint.

I don't mean that inflation and military defeat are not serious, I am certain you can find many examples of such problems causing ruin.

I am saying that there are other ruins.

Did we suffer military defeat or inflation prior to what we call" The Great Depression"?

Having lost the inflation argument, we now turn to the Great Depression. It was caused by a defect in Capitalism, which causes panics, crises and recessions every sever to ten years. The Great Depression was worse, because it was a world depression, partly caused by the collapse of the Weimar republic in Germany, and a drought and dust bowl in the US.
It was not caused by a war or an excessive national debt.

I didn't expect you to admit defeat so easily.

Inflation and deflation are like hot and cold , extremes of either can be harmfull.

Military defeat is not cheap but doesn't necessacerily collapse an economy.
Nor does peace garuntee a good economy.

A successfull economy is a dynamic , that features homeostasis.

Robert Heinlin pointed out that all you have to have to ruin an economy is positive feedback.
I had to mull that point over a bit before I understood the truth bit.

I didn't admit defeat and I fail to see why you would say that.

War is one of the worst things that can be done to an economy, as it takes resources and essentially throws them away.

Even a bridge to nowhere recycles tax money back into the economy and the bridge would have been marginally useful to people for a long period.

You didn't admit here that you lost the "inflation" argument?

It was never my point that inflation and war are harmless, but that you were wrong to say that only defeat in war with high inflatrion following ever colapse an economy.

Really in hindsight , can't you think of several things that can ruin an economy?

I don't understand.

You didn't admit that the great depression spoiled the American economy without inflation nor military defeat?

No.

The subject of the entire topic was your assertion that economic collapse could happen without military defeat.

The economic collapse in question was due to inflation.

The Great Depression was not an economic collapse, and inflation was not the cause.

Forget it, this is just a waste of time.
