The results so far of President Reagans initive to create defensive wepons against ICBMS. Is proving it can work enough? I would like to have feilded a fleet of these, the potential for defense becomeing actually defensive in nature appeals to me a lot.
I guess I can still be glad , if we ever manage to build a smaller and cheaper , but still effective version , it will be with what we have learned from this one .
By the way , the development of the focus method for this wepon has allowed us to develop astronomy telecopes that take almost Hubble quality pictures from ordinary mountaintops. Is less need to launch telescopes counted as a saving? It could be then that the project will eventually pay for itself?
