And then there was one
« on: April 10, 2012, 04:15:25 PM »
...yea, yea, I know Newt is sill in......but his campaign is on life support, and he's severely in debt.  He had his moment, but following both the MSM's and Romney's tearing him down, there really is only 1 left standing

Santorum suspends presidential campaign

April 10th, 2012,
posted by Martin Wisckol, Politics reporter

Rick Santorum, the nearest challenger to Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney, this morning suspended his campaign for president, clearing the path for Romney to focus virtually exclusively on his November matchup with Barack Obama.

In announcing the decision, Santorum said the campaign had been a success on several levels.

“We were touching hearts,” he said, appearing with his wife and family in his home state of Pennsylvania. “We were raising issues that others didn’t want raised.”

The New York Times writes, “The decision abruptly ends his quest for the Republican presidential nomination after weeks in which he has struggled to compete with Mr. Romney’s well-financed, highly-organized campaign apparatus.”

Santorum also faced the dual challenges of his three-year-old daughter, Bella, battling pneumonia and the possibility he could lose the primary today in his home state of Pennsylvania. Polling shows him neck-and-neck with Romney there.

“Rick Santorum clearly brought to the race and awareness of the (gay) marriage issue and other issues of concern to value voters,” said the Rev. Lou Sheldon of the Anaheim-based Traditional Values Coalition. “He made his contribution. He’s satisfied many people who were looking for these issues to be raised.”

Sheldon said it’s now time for the GOP to rally around Romney.

“I think he’s the person who can get the country going and reduce the size of government,” said Sheldon.

I will be updating this item shortly and then periodically with details and reaction. I’ll also be launching an OC Political Pulse poll.

>>but following both the MSM's and Romney's tearing him down<<

Ha, ha, as if the MSM had anything to do with Newt's downfall.

The right in this country sure does like to tell itself fairy tales.

1. The Bush tax cuts are creating jobs.
2. We have to stop Saddam Hussein before he drops a nuclear bomb on NYC.
3. America is God's country.
4. There's a war on Christmas.
5. Blacks should shut up and except the fact that they're the dumbest sumnabitches on this planet.
6. "Mission Accomplished" doesn't really mean we accomplished the mission. It means Laura just finished washing the dishes.
7. Steers and queers aren't the only living things in Texas.
8. Romney is going to take the White House.
9. The only thing standing between America and tyranny is the .22 derringer in my jeans' pocket.
10. Islam is responsible for 9/11.

>>but following both the MSM's and Romney's tearing him down<<

Ha, ha, as if the MSM had anything to do with Newt's downfall.

It had a ton to do with it.  But you know, it never ceases to amaze me, how self proclaimed know-it-alls and leftists continue to perpeuate gross dostortions, if not out and out lies, when it comes to their "fairy tale claims of the right".  Let us demonstrate and educate

1. The Bush tax cuts are creating jobs.

Which in this reality, they did precisely that.  One need only look at the effects of 911, and what happened to employment a mere 2+ years later after the tax cuts were in full effect.

2. We have to stop Saddam Hussein before he drops a nuclear bomb on NYC.

That claim would simply be a lie

3. America is God's country.

Nice distortion

4. There's a war on Christmas.

Yet another

5. Blacks should shut up and except the fact that they're the dumbest sumnabitches on this planet.

That's bordering on a lie

6. "Mission Accomplished" doesn't really mean we accomplished the mission. It means Laura just finished washing the dishes.

In fact, we did accomplish the Mission of taking down Saddam and his regime.  But let's not that little fact get in the way of a good leftist strawman

7. Steers and queers aren't the only living things in Texas.

Only Bsb is going to be able to elaborate on that ridiculous "fairy tale claim"

8. Romney is going to take the White House.

It's the GOP's to lose.  Which they still can

9. The only thing standing between America and tyranny is the .22 derringer in my jeans' pocket.

Refer to #7 for that one, as well

10. Islam is responsible for 9/11.

Yet another gross distortion

Will Santorum be given a spot in the cabinet? Will he get the VP's spot?

Perhaps Secretary of the new Committee for the Preservation of Virtue and Abolition of Vice.

And Ron Paul, 77 years old and rolling in money, will he do the right Right thing and run as a Libertarian?

So true, Mr. Obamacare-is-only-a-1000pages-piece-of-legislation.  Oh wait, that'd be xo's bizarro land of alternate reality

But it was funny....no longer is Obama some sure thing.  Now Paul needs to "do the right thing" in order to split the vote, so that Obama can squeak back in.

I doubt that he will have to squeak much. The ratbag right has already alienated women and Hispanics, and running a tycoon  with the charisma of a hubbard squash will hardly help their cause.

Paul should give the people a real choice. He at least is not a total phoney like "Rawmoney".
