A stupid toon.

Here is what you do not know about the work that "inspired" this cartoon, Piss Christ.

It is not clear that the artist was even a liberal.

After the invention of the camera, art was no longer judged basically on the accuracy of how well the artist reproduced reality, new criteria were therefore necessary, since a camera can reproduce reality perfectly.

One criteria was to "épater les bourgeoise", to get a rise out of the boring middle class.
Piss Christ (which was a photograph a plastic Jesus in what the artist claimed was his own urine) certainly did this as admirably or more than any work thus far. Humorless Philistines like "Christians" and sirs really got their tighty whities in a bunch over this one.

But where is "Piss Christ" today? In the Guggenheim? In john Kerry's private museum? Does it belong to Barbra Streisand or some other Hollywood liberal? Was it auctioned off to George Soros for millions?

If the goal of the "Piss Christ" was to get a rise out of the bourgeoise, it was right on the money. Nothing the Dadaists did came as close to provoking their tiny little minds.

I certainly do not consider it to be great art.

A Bible in the toilet is not art to me.

 A Koran in a toilet is also not art, but is likely to provoke some Muslim nut case to do something rash, and hence is not a good idea.
'"Hate speech"? No, it is not hate speech, just  a dumb and meaningless gesture, done to annoy. So is the Bible in a toilet. If it caused "Christians" to go ape and blow himself up, or sirs to shoot a lot of people with his personal munitions dump, it would be comparable to a Koran in the toilet provoking the same fanatical reaction.

And why is that, exactly?  Why is one throwing of a major symbolic religious item into the toilet not produce the same "likely rashness" from another major religion?  What are you trying to say there, Xo?

Christians are less likely to get violent over a perceived insult to their belief structure than Muslims.

This is because Christianity has been around for 800 years or so longer than Islam, and has had a longer period to mellow out.

Jesus was not into military conquest, and Muhammad was. The Koran describes triumphant battles that actually happened, and all  the New Testament has are the fantasy rantings of the Book of Revelation, that does not describe any past events, just prophesies.

It is bad manners to throw a Bible in the toilet. It will offend a lot of people, but they are unlikely to kill over it.

Muslims are less tolerant, and some of them might actually kill someone who threw their Koran in the toilet.

I think that this is pretty obvious and well known.

Personally, I would certainly not throw either book in a toilet. Only a jerk would do that, and only to be annoying. It is willful destruction of property and is bad for the plumbing. I never throw chewing gum in a toilet or urinal.
