I agree that Ryan has the same sort of agenda but Perry has a fresher perspective of how federal mandates affect the states than Ryan does. He knows border problems first hand, he knows epa problems first hand, he knows energy problem first hand and the list goes on.

CU asked who my first pick would have been and i answered.

Rick Perry certainly did not seem to be a guy who knew much of anything in his campaign. He came across as a country & western version of Dan Quayle.

I love Dan Quayle.
He is too branded to be a canadate, but shouldn't we all be ashamed to be so malliable as to accept such branding?

I am all for you loving Dan Quayle. If more people loved him, it could be profitable to commission a plush version of him. But he was in every way a lightweight, and Olebush personally and wisely dumped him.

Part of being a competent politician is avoiding getting typecast as an idiot or a philanderer, as the more recent examples of Rick Perry and Herman Cain demonstrated. If a leader is typecast as an idiot domestically, he can be sen in the same way internationally, and that can be disastrous.

Probably because Perry has that much valued Executive experience, over that of a legislator

That's cool.  I wasn't trying to cause you to become defensive.  Just throwing in my 2cents of how I believe Ryan has a similar goal as Perry.  I would have had no problem if Perry were picked as well

Perry was dealing with pain medications at the time of the debates. Hard to get the right combo to be able to stand during the 1.5 hour debates and still remain lucid.

Perry did not seem to be any sort of leader during the several months of the campaign, either. He came across as an ignorant yokel every time he opened his mouth. at least to me.

What leadership skills are required to shown during a stint as VP?

Give examples of these skills as displayed by Biden.

I have no doubt that Biden would have little difficulty being an entirely adequate president.

Perry, in my opinion, is a cowboy yokel, and just his image would be a huge obstacle to overcome.

Has Biden shown leadership skills in the past?

Has anyone ever tryed to keep a talley of gaffes?

I can imagine a Perry - Biden debate could be very entertaining.

Mean time between gaffes = one minute.

This might be worth doing after the election, on Saturday Night  Live, Biden could hoast, after all he won't be busy.

Biden is not an ignorant cowboy yokel. Perry, however, is.

Ryan will cost far more votes than he brings in. Perry would have been even worse.

I don't Biden as doing any harm to the Democratic ticket at all.

So what you are saying is that since Perry speaks with a Southern accent he is a yokel?

Did the same hold true for Clinton?
