This is ONE COUNTRY, not a weak affiliation of fifty countries. Benefits should be as equally spread as possible among all citizens, since a huge number of us do not stay in one state for a lifetime. I have lived in MO, WA, IA, KS, WV, VA, MD, NM, TX and FL: ten states. Of these MD and WA were the best run, and VA was dead last. WV wasn't much better, but there is money in VA and lots of it, but WV is clearly the poorest state I have lived in.

States rights are dead, and should be put to rest.

In this ONE COUNTRY, the foundation is based on a goal of Equal Opportunity...NOT Equal Outcomes

There is no excuse for Mississippi, really there isn't. There was no excuse the the DMV in Hanover County, VA when I lived there, either.

States should offer opportunities to their citizens equal to those offered by other states.

Do states have equal resorces?

Do states even have equal citizens?

Strangely, its also a cornerstone to this country's very existance.  You're just unlucky Xo.  You should have been born under a Stalin Russia or a Hitler Germany, where the government was the end all be all to all your worries

States' Rights nearly destroyed this country. States do not have the right to leave the Union. We had to fight a war over that.

States' Rights are unrelated to personal liberties in this country or any other. now that slavery has been abolished.

States' Rights is a losing proposition.

So you change the subject?

Whatever states are responsible for they should also have authority over.

They cannot be held responsible to make their resorces equal to other states, there is no possibility that all states can spend the same percapata. They can't , the money is not there.

As much as possible authority and responsibility belongs to the lowest level at which it can be made to work.

States' Rights nearly destroyed this country.

and strangely, its precisely the strength of the "States", and the diversity each provides, not to mention the power bestowed upon them by the limitations of the Fed, via the Constitution, that have this country great.  What a ridiculous, not to mention, communistic, prism to try and claim how horrible states' rights are, when its precisely one of the reasons we became a super power in such a short period of time, and still remain so.....despite the lunatic left's efforts to tear that down

Of all the states in which I have lived, only Washington State and Maryland were superior in any way to the federal government in efficiency, facilities, courtesy of any other virtue.

The States that crow the most about their state's rights are the states most often run by ignorant yokels: Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi, Arizona

Your OPINION, as wrong as it so often is, is duely noted.  Of all the states, I have lived in, ALL were superior to the Fed, outside of CA

Strangely enough, all the states that currently have a GOP Governor, have seen their unemployment rolls go down, and most of their revenues, go up.  Imagine that, in this state of Economic disaster.  As I've already referenced, you missed your window of where "the Fed" would take complete care of you, one way or another, with no stinkin "states" getting in the way....Fascist Germany & Commuunist Russia.  Bummers for you

The Soviet Union was 15 republics, and even today, the Russian Federation is composed of many ethnic enclaves as well as the Russian part.

If all Americans are equal, then why should the government not do all it can to actually provide equal opportunity for all of them?

As I said, States' Rights sucks, it has always sucked, it always will suck.

Yea, those non-existent states rights in Hitler's Germany & Stalin's Russia, should have been embraced here.........NOT.  Sorry Xo, you missed your window.  This is a country where every PERSON has equal opportunity, and equal rights to pursue happiness.  The FED's job is to maintain that.  No more, no less.  and what's not granted them authority via the constitution, is the domain of 50 unique states, still governed though by a Constitutional Federal Government.  It's the best of both worlds

Its the states that the other states hate that need states rights.
