Right now Gov. Romney longs to be president of the United States but there was a time when he "longed to be with the troops in Vietnam representing our country". Yes folks that's what he actually said. The thing is though, while longing to be in the rice paddies and jungles of Vietnam he sought and got a draft deferment so he could go on a "mission" for the Mormon Church. Where was that mission? Why Paris France of course.  I mean if you were a young man wouldn't Paris beat the hell out of being with the troops in Southeast Asia?

What a phony.

Oh, btw, Howdy H.  Nice to see your focus on Bush is still a high priority    ;)

Well, you know how it is, after all the crap I took in here trying to point out the facts to you and others, it's just nice to see, even at this late date, that I was 3 for 3 on Bushco cherry-picking intelligence, WMD's, and the link between Saddam and Al Qaeda.

Though it was nice to see Shoot-from-the-hip Mitt's first round go through his foot.

The problem with preconceived notions, in both Bushco's case and his, is they tend to get in the way of the facts.

I don't see anything phony about that statement at all. Like many of his age group he took the deferments he was allowed. And like many of his age group he probably wondered what his life would have been like if he hadn't. He was exposed to the 70 lottery. His number was 300. Mine was 42.

Crap apparently defined as facts and common sense.  Strange how though, when asked to demonstrate actual evidence that Bush lied, nary ever any evidence outside of the always taken out of context mushroom clouds comment, and the as of yet unrefuted connections both direct and indirect that Saddam did have with AlQaeda, which incidentally, includes your current post here.  Not to mention the endless clips of all the democrats, including Clinton, who ferverently believed in Saddam's WMD supply & their threat, especially if any were to get into the hands of those same AlQaeda terrorists, who had just managed to kill thousands of Americans, with mere box cutters.  But if it makes you happy to keep placating your own thought process of how evil only Bush was, have at it.  Still good to seeays    8)

Oh, the irony

9/11 was preventable. That was established long ago by the 9/11 commission. What is more difficult to control is the response to such an event. Bush and Cheney were the wrong leaders at the wrong time. They panicked. Iraq was the result of their panic. Right now Netanyahu is panicking. A war with Iran could be the result. Hopefully not. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail. Over the last 36 hours Romney has proven himself not to be a cooler head. Quite the opposite. This is what I meant when I said you never know how someone will react as the Commander in Chief. Romney is a disengaged actor when it comes to the international stage. I don't think we need any further evidence.  I have NO doubt that as the leader of our military he will be equally disengaged.

9/11 was preventable.

Basically just a worthless statement.

Almost anything man-made is preventable.
The US Civil War, WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, "were preventable".
Really all wars "are preventable" if one side just surrenders.
To a degree many health problems in non-elderly are "preventable" or can be postponed.
Most plane crashes "could have been prevented".
Ted Kennedy "could have prevented" a girl drowning.
President Truman could have "prevented" mass death in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Obama "could have prevented" US deaths in Libya this week.
Obama "could have prevented" more US soldier deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Obama "could have prevented" not following thru on promise to close Gitmo.
The point being that in 20/20 hindsight most anything "could be prevented"
but there are sometimes valid circumstances & consequences that prevent prevention.

9/11 could have also been probably prevented had Bill Clinton killed Bin Laden
when had the chance.

Obama talks lots about the mess he inherited.
Bush inherited an Al Qaeda mess from Clinton who instead of killing Bin Laden
preferred performing sex acts with interns in the White House while his wife and child
were on trips. Of course Bush unlike Obama didnt spend his first term whining about
what a terror threat mess Clinton left him and the country in by not taking out Bin Laden and others when he had the chance.

Of course understanding how to prevent things is a large part of what we do as humans. In order to do that first you have to identify if it's preventable, than how it's preventable, and work from there. In the case of Mr. Dukkaphile, however, I highly doubt his stupendous stupidity is preventable.

Even IF that were the case, and given your track record of how wrong your proclamations are, unlikely, so fricken what??  Christianity is chastized, ridiculed, and demeaned all the time.  Where's all the christians massing, storming, burning flags, and killing??

Good thing no one is    ::)   Is that supposed to be rationalization as to why radical islamists to go ape snot when Allah is dare ridiculed, but why Christians don't?  As if I'm supporting the idea of Radical Christians acting like a bunch of ignorant Islamists is necesary for "balance"??

Looked like you, BT, might be being an apologists for Romney's chino pants, blue button down shirt, type of aloofness during the turmoil of the 60s. If he "longed" to be with the troops he had his chance when he dropped out of Stanford after his freshmen year.  Instead he spent his time, protected by a deferment, in Paris. Seems kind of phony to me.

Perhaps his thinking evolved as time marched on. It happens.

I'm sure you have regrets for things you may have done as a youth but at the time you didn't.

It sure sounds like you are complaining about a lack of balance.

Christians went through their wars to convert the unwilling about 450 years ago, with the Inquisition, the Spanish vs the Turks in the Mediterranean and the various European religious wars The Muslims are going through this because modern times, especially the Western entertainment media, are assaulting their stagnant lifestyle. Just like Reagan wanted to go back to the 1950's, these schmucks want to go back to the 800's.

The film (or specifically the 13 minute YouTube "trailer") was specifically designed to piss off Muslims. It was not an expose of Muslim corruption or an evangelical thing to promote conversion to some other religion, it was a deliberate effort to provoke riots and bloodshed because some warped morons think that by causing a religious war, the Apocalypse will come and Jesus will come back and rule the world or something like that.

If you have not watched it, do so. It is not only deliberately annoying it has the production values of bad porn.

If you are not blathering about the lack of "balance" then what are you blathering about?
