I bought the last 2 10 packs of Twinkies on the shelf at the local Hostess Outlet. Everything is on sale at 1/2 price. The store was packed.

I’m not big on sweets but i figured i would stock up on Twinkies so when the grandkids are old enough to watch Zombieland they would have a better understanding of the quest.

With all the preservatives in them, they'll probably still be fresh.

I bought some right after the movie. lets just say childhood flavors don`t always make it to adulthood. just to let people know deep fried twinkies may sound great but it just don`t translate into our reality very well

Does anyone prefer union baked bread?

Or

Would you buy a non-union Twinkie copy?

If Twinkies have a good shelf life they could be baked in China and shipped to American ports in gigantic Twinkie ships.

The Hostess management was hideously incompetent and guilty of massive violations of the contract with the workers.

The workers did their jobs well. Bad management by corporate raiders wrecked Hostess.

That strikes me a quite plausable , but it does not rule out that Unions were one factor , I don't know if stupid managers were a bigger factor or not.

What do the surviving compeditors look like?

Unions were not a factor at all.

Hostess was run by vultures and sucked dry by them.

I donlt think the competition is significant to the failure of Hostess.

Nope
Both parties are guilty and the business paid for it.  It's fairly public about the previous bankruptcy ,the upper level pay hiked, sudden leaving of certain execs show signs of trouble

The plus side is unions across the country will have a chance to learn something different. No moe they can afford it terms

I doubt.

But I dont mean to imply that they were outcompeted, but that other players in the same busines must have survived.

Do the survivors have lower overhead, weaker union, or smarter managers?

Certainly not a more popular pastry.

Hostess is certainly not Apple computer or Harley Davidson. People do not have brand loyalty to their products to any great degree.

Hostess was taken over by some corporate vultures, The workers had a valid contract and the management refused to honor the contract. Other companies were not raided and ruined by greedheads who tripled their own salaries and then tried to cut the wages of those who actually produced the products.
