Antisemitism was appealing to the Germans, because after WWI, the German economy collapsed,and Germans were forced to pawn and sell their prized possessions to buy food. The pawnbrokers were mostly Jews. Being as there was huge inflation at the time, it was a certainly that the pawnbroker would sell or redeem at what looked like a huge profit, because the prices were linked to the British pound or the price of gold.
There were some Jews in the Kaiser's Army, but Jews did not see military service as a major patriotic obligation. The Russians tended to use Jews as cannon fodder, and rarely survived wars.
