I have never claimed that I am not an imbecile.

If you think that I am then you should explain it in the simplest language and clearest logic.
As if to an imbecile.

So in particular , why is employing illeagal wiretaps and trying to cover it over long enough to win election,

worse by orders of magnitude,

than,

Ignoring pleas for help from dieing state departmant employees and the ambassidor, and covering it over long enough to win election?

Obama would have won regardless. Romney was doomed.

Foreign policy is not normally a factor in elections.

It becomes one only when the people feel personally threatened and/or large numbers of soldiers are dying.

Several people around a consulate getting killed is not enough to swing an election.

And there was hardly a major cover up. This is just something the radio rantsters give any importance to.

Neither the Petraeus nor the Benghazi assassination are any big deal.

This is a simularity , not a diffrence. McGovern did not carry a lot of states.

If Watergate is a big deal , why is it bigger than Bengazi?
Didn't involve death, didn't involve dread enemys of the American people.
What makes a coverup of a wiretap a huge deal and a coverup of ignoring pleas for help from Americans under fire NBD?

I think you are heroicly swimming against the current there.

Nixon told Haldeman, Haldeman ordered the Cubans to do the espionage. Nixon dknew they were dirty tricksters, but he did not want to know the specifics.

I don't believe that statement is correct vis a vis the timeline of events. Nixon did speak to Haldeman about it, but that was after the fact. You may be confusing the coverup with the actual crime.
