Why is the tolerant so intolerant?

Notice the folks that cry hatred, curse the loudest, yell racist, or simply respond with derrogatory cracks?  Generally those are the folks that see themselves as "the tolerant", the 'diverse", ....the self perceived smart folks in the room.  They're the ones that preach the need for tolerance to opposing viewpoints, to be "inclusive" to all manner of thought

They also seem to be the ones who always run away, and/or yell the loudest at opposing viewpoints or from fact based disagreements of their positions.  Why's that?

Kryptonite to superman is likely the best analogy here.....Krytonite being facts, and superman being the self absorbed leftist who believes he's smarter than everyone else.......or at least smarter than 10 conservatives put together

What is the definition of Tolerance?

When do you give it , when should you get it , and when is it a bad idea?

Technically, it's putting up with someone or something one finds not to their liking

I don't think you can "give it", you can only demonstrate it.....fits the mold actions speak louder than words

But there is a lot to it.

Intolerance is famous for being bad, unless you are intolerant of bad.

It is good to recieve tolerance , but people get insulted .

"What do you mean you are ""Tolerant" of WHAT are you "tolerant"?"

"I am certainly not doing anything that should be bothering you , certainly nothing hard to tolerate!"

I try to be.  At least I don't run off when someone is misrepresenting my positions, erroneously calling me a liar, or throwing a barrage of grammar school name calling at me.  Doesn't make me perfect.....just.....tolerant I suppose

I don't think he is bad, even though I have given him criticism on style issues lately.

He took criticism (that I tried to make obviously well meaning) with little complaint.

That is pretty good , there is no reason that someone who can do that shouldn't learn everything that everyone here has to give.

If he understands what I mean , that is the most that I can ask, I certainly can't require agreement, or garuntee that my advice is always good and useable without further thought.

I can even imagine the potential for rejecting my advice being the best choice, even if done with tact , this strains tolerance, cause I always think I am wise , till later.

Also nice to see Bsb demonstrating improved tolerance to those who don't adopt his ideological pursuits & claims, even when shown to be in error.  Welcome back
