From URL in opening post in XOs thread: "One of them got the gun out of the holster but then it got stuck in his shirt."

I posted a particular .45, on more than one occasion, that I recommend for personal defense. It's the best out there, period. It is completely dehorned, rounded at all the edges, so that it won't get caught on your holster or shirt or jacket. Plus, it will not fail you, ever, if you take care of it. If you're going to carry, nothing less will do. I suspect none of the gun-nuts in here bought that weapon.

Returning timely, deadly, fire, while under attack, requires 1000s of hours of practice in as real to life a situation as you can simulate.  A firing range doesn't get it. You need, at minimum, a shooting house. You NEED to be surprised. When you tell people about how the SEALS, or Special Forces, train, they always say we're not SF, or SEALS. Irrelevant. You have to train as they do, nothing short of that will do. This is why most dickheads shouldn't be carrying a firearm around. They have no idea what they're doing. This is why you shouldn't have grandpa working as an armed security guard in an elementary school. That idea is a dumb as you can get.

Having a gun in your house for self defense is one thing, carrying one around on the street is another thing altogether.  The people who carry when they don't really need to are gun-nuts, fruit-loops, like Sirs. They are the last people you want carrying a firearm around.

We need to make concealed carry licenses almost impossible to get. We need to ban all AR15 platforms on civilian firearms. Those two things are a good place to start.

You have got to be at least half right , more practice = more effectiveness.

Very few people can devote the time and expense required to become really compeditive with the top notch.

But , having no wepon at all vs having an effective wepon is a large leap in effectiveness , from zero to half enough.

All persons that carry guns should be encouraged to take training and practice as well as possible , so that they will not cause or become an accident statistic  ,and to build effectiveness.

Only a very few criminals are going to be trained to the level of Navy Seals , so Seals are not the standard that must be surpassed.

Being a better shot and a better planner than the advradge criminal is achevable.

Are the guards at this school trained to a very high standard?

It does not in any way make him a hypocrite.

First, the armed guard is not necessarily the reason why he put his children in that school. He probably had no say in whether the decision to post a guard in the school or not.

You might as well say someone is a hypocrite because they shop in a WalMart with an armed guard at the door.

You really like to believe. You are the Fox Mulder of gun nuttery.

Tis true...I do believe in facts, logic, the Constitution, and common sense.  In that, I am indeed guilty

You're not to smart are you Plane. The point behind the training is so you won't fuck up and kill half the kids in the classroom when returning the bad guys fire.

Yeah, no need to train yourself to the same level as the best:

"New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said all nine bystanders wounded in Friday's Empire State Building shooting had been hit with police gunfire, CNN reported Saturday morning.

According to Kelly, of the nine wounded, three suffered gunshot wounds and six were hit by fragments."

It's sad to see people refuse to admit that they are ignorant on a subject and just run their mouths off instead. This is what Americans have become. A bunch of big mouths.

Ha Ha....yeah sure....criticize others for doing what you do is not hypocritical!  ::)

First, the armed guard is not necessarily the reason why he put his children in that school.

No.....I am sure security is not even on his mind when it come to his children!  ::)
Heck I bet he'd as soon have them in a ghetto school!

You might as well say someone is a hypocrite because they shop in a WalMart with an armed guard at the door.

If someone opposed having armed guards at stores,
but made it a point to shop at stores with armed guards
then yes they would be a hypocrit.

Yeah taking away guns from law abiding citizens
like SIRS and myself and only leaving guns in the hands
of people like Obama who turn them over to
Mexican Drug Cartels now that's some real stupid ass logic!

This is priceless.....the folks who are supposedly trained in firing, bsb produces as being wholly inaccurate, yet with all the CCW holders across the countrym where's all the stories of those CCW holders firing wildly, and taking out multiple bystanders.  Hmmmmmmm?

Good luck with that one.  Talk about ignorant

Does this incident demonstrate deficient training?

ahhh, because a gun is never used to save one's life

Ernestine Aldana owns a grocery store near the corner of Muskego Avenue and Becher Street in Milwaukee. On Dec. 14, Aldana was working in the store when a man entered the store and pulled a knife on her.

"I was really scared," she said.

But as the man reached for cash from the drawer, Aldana pulled a gun from underneath the counter.

"I didn't think," she said. "I didn't remember what was being said. I just took a step back, grabbed the gun and that was that."

As the gun came out, the man ran away.

Aldana said she and her husband have owned the grocery store for just over two years and have not encountered any problems before this. She said her son bought the gun for their protection, but they never thought they would have to use it.

"My son took me out to the shooting range," she said. "I did twice (shoot the gun)." But she said other than those two shots at the range, she has never fired the gun. But on that day, she came close.

"I probably shouldn't say this, but I think I was going to shoot the gun," she said. "But he was already running away. Once his back was turned, I couldn't do it."

Milwaukee police said Thursday that an arrest had been made in the case after they released the surveillance video.
