If the 2nd only covered weapons available at the time, wouldn't it follow that the only written speech protected would have been scribed with a quill and ink? That speech over the airways would be unprotected because no radio or television existed back then?

How can a living constitution only adapt in certain places.

Makes no sense.

Makes no sense.

That doesn't follow in my opinion.

The words enter the brain at the same speed, either through the ear or the eye, no matter how it's delivered. The brain processes it the same way, and reacts depending on the point of view of the reader or listener in the same fashion.

A projectile from a musket does not enter the body at the same speed as it does from a modern weapon. The number of projectiles that can be fired from a musket over a specific time period does not relate to the number that can be fired from a modern weapon over the same time frame.  A modern firearm is far more deadly. I highly doubt the framers of the constitution would have the same take, when it comes to firearms, today, that they had when the amendment was enacted. You couldn't do what that nut did in Conn. with a musket. You'd be stopped long before 20 children were killed.

And if confronted by 5 thugs, you'd be killed long before you could get a 2nd shot off.  If the framers meant muskets, they'd have said a right to bear muskets, not arms.  The use of arms allows precisely for the growth of a civilization to incorporate whatever firearms are current, for that timeframe

Great post!

BTW....we need to see that more often from BT!

So much for Bt's request to refrain from throwing around the stupid label.  So, you mean like how the framers could only mean 1 shot black powder muskets as the only arms applicable to the 2nd amendment?

Except that the newer mediums can reach more people faster and build critical mass before the govt knows what hit them.

See the Mohammed is a dumbass as an example.

And the telegraph paid an important role in this government fullfilling it's "manifest destiny", so what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

The point is 20 children had their rights to live a full life taken from them by a madman who had access to a weapon that is designed specifically to kill humans in large numbers. That has to stop.

Do you really want to get into a right to life for children, taken by a scalpel

This man's "access" was STEALING, what was not his to steal.

We already have laws against stealing, against murder, against carrying a firearm onto school grounds, and against having access to automatic assault weapons

The point is had their been someone...ANYONE...on campus with a firearm permit, possibly not 1 child would have had their right to life taken, and everyone else's constitutional rights to bear arms will have not been touched

Anyone who thinks that it's a coincidence that 1) sirs is a social misfit and 2) he carries a gun unnecessarily, is as drug dependent as he may very well be.

P.S. I'm outa here again for awhile. Sirs level of stupidity becomes too much to take in such a small forum. I'll be back in a week or two.

Can't handle being unable to back-up the asinine accusations again?  Need a break, and pretend everyone will forget the last time?  Don't hole your breath

Boy, it must burn B's britches to know sirs can carry, has never one had to pull his weapon, and all forms of facts and evidence to debunk the ongoing meritless claim of how much more dangerous CCW holders supposedly make the country.  No wonder a "break" is in order.

Hope the tank is full upon your return.  Here's a heads-up....facts won't have changed.  In this country, guns still save more lives then they take.  Less violent crime in areas with more permissve gun laws compared to those that are far stricter ones.  Empirical evidence demonstrating that CCW laws lead to a decrease in the amount of gun deaths

Get some good rest

400 Texas Teachers Turn Out for Free Concealed Handgun License Course

In the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, the NRA and other organizations have moved to educate teachers and other school staff on firearms in order to try and prevent events like those of December 14, 2012 from happening again.

That movement is gaining support in some parts of the country. The Utah Shooting Sports Council recently offered free concealed weapons training to Utah Teachers and over 200 were expected to attend.

Not to be out done, a gun store in Texas has nearly doubled that number during a recent class.

On Saturday, December 30, Lone Star Handgun, located in San Antonio, offered free Concealed Handgun License (CHL) training to anyone who works with students at a school. The 400 slots made available to public were filled within 24 hours.

“We’re trying to educate the educators and get forward moment in the Legislature to allow teachers and any other concealed handgun license holder into schools or any other public place,” said Josh Felker, owner of Lone Star Handgun, to mysanantonio.com.

Kim Williams, an educator from Houston had this to say during a break in the course: “I’m entrusted to the care and safety of over 100 students. I want to be prepared.”

Texas law currently only allows concealed carry on school grounds by written authorization or specific school policy

Now, THAT's what I'm talking about
