Outstanding interview!....thanks BT.

It's amazing how some want to live in denial that such innovators
almost always come from free societies that foster great rewards on innovators.

There are a MINUSCULE number of creative people in the wealthiest 1%. This is a bogus argument.

straw man!....who ever said great rewards = wealthiest 1%
what is absolute fact is in your commune world innovation has
been nearly non-existent. Great reward = great innovation.
No reward = mostly very little innovation.
Great rewards via great innovation benefits the entire planet
and you cant stand that dynamic!
But love your kushy little life benefitting from all the innovation great reward has produced

I thought it was kind of neat that a Pennsylvania country boy could wander into the beginnings of two companies that have gone on to greatness, PayPal and YouTube.

Like Jobs did with Apple and Pixar and NeXT.

That's exactly what I told my brother last night trying to get him to watch a 40 min video.
I told him it was like watching Steve Jobs....
It's truely fascinating listening to the pioneers of our age.
These guys are changing the world in big ways right before our eyes.

There has never and will never be great volumes of world changing innovations
in societies that dont offer great rewards to gifted people.

After watching the video I decided I will join "Delicious" today,
I dont really even know what it is...but if Chad Hurley is involved it must be good.
BT I've been a long time huge fan of PayPaL....didnt even know who Chad was until watching this video.

Take a look at who has won the Nobel Prizes over the years for medical and scientific discoveries. You will no doubt be amazed to learn that most were not won by Americans, and even fewer were rewarded even a fraction as much as total buffoon CEO's like Roger Smith at GM.

Did Jonas Salk ever make a fraction of what Donald Trump made by buying buildings, throwing the tenants into the street and then turning them into condos?

No, he did not.

You are projecting what you think a creative person would require onto what you would do if you were creative, which, of course you are not.

Once again you miss the point.
It's amazing how stupid you really are....or how clever you are at changing the subject.
I have yet to come to a suitable conclusion on which it is.

You continue to press the point that there are wealthier people than some innovators.
What the hell difference does that make? It does not change my premise at all.
If Trump is wealthier than the guy that invents a new dental device.
That doesnt mean the dental device inventor is not "greatly rewarded".
Because Nobel Prize winners are not American does not have any relevance either.
Many of the Nobel Prize winners...most...came from countries that offer great rewards to innovators.
However if you look at the list Americans have won 338 Nobel Prizes, no other country even has half that amount!
Innovation is not impossible where there are no rewards....it is just empirically a lot less likely to happen without rewards.
You just are not going to get across the board innovation in societies like Cuba, North Korea, ect.....
When rewards are absent...sure a few may try to innovate.
But when rewards are present....lots more try to innovate...and thus innovation production is exponentially increased.
Again...it's not brain surgery.....
I am building some log cabins right now.....
There are all kinds of new building materials and tools on the market today...
Craftsmen, carpenters, masons, ect....think of ideas that make a job more productive, easier, faster.
Some patent these ideas....that they think of.....if the product is industry changing
then the guy or guys that thought of the new idea can be greatly rewarded....
that's how it should be...and keeps the flow of innovation flowing.
where great rewards are present...there are channels to make ideas turn into reality.
A guy in North Korea may have a great idea....but mostly the channels to bring that to reality are absent.
That absence stifles most innovation.....great ideas are shit if they cant become a reality.

In another thread, BT pointed out that the number of customers served is an important factor.

So someone that invented a better paperclip might make a bigger fortune than someone who invented a complete cure for a disease, because even though for those whose life was saved recieves their own ultimate best value in lifetime saved, huge numbers of people buy paperclips saving each of them a fraction of wasted time shuffleing their papers.

Paperclips?

Most of the really rich in this country are probably not creative enough to create even a paperclip.

I thought the Trump vs. Salk was a very good example of what I meant.
