It is just plain stupid to claim that terrorism in Iraq is due to Islam, just as terrorism in Ireland was claimed to be religiously inspired. These are simply ethnic wars and struggles for power. Any Iraqi can clearly distinguish a Shiite from a Sunni or an Alawite, Druse or Christian by their name or surname or even their accent.

In Ecuador, I met George, a Syrian Christian who was illegally in the Los Angeles, where he was married to a Jewish woman,and deported back to Syria. He had a huge cross tattooed on his arm and had mixed feelings about the downfall of Assad, since the Alawites have been allies of the Christians ever since the French occupation.

Muslim individuals and people from Muslim groups commit terrorism and violence, just as Christians commit crimes in Christians countries. It has been a long time since this sort of thing has been officially endorsed by any religion in any official capacity. Iraqi and Syrian society is vastly more complicated than the culture of the US, because it goes back thousands of years.

weddings, funerals, markets, religious worship services
in the name of their religion? Where are Christian shoe-bombers,

full of people in the name of their religion? Where are Christians
beheading anyone in the name of their religion? Where are
Christians threatening to wage war and terror in the name
