"WHITEY" by Dick Lehr & Gerald O'Neill
Fascinating book. I'm about two thirds of the way through it and riveted. Whitey was able to take control of the Irish mob in Boston, and kill off whoever got in his way literally at will, because of a confluence of events mixed with the support of some of Massachusetts, and Washington's, most powerful people.
