Hmmm.........I'm wondering.........do the springs in the magazine need to be replaced very often, if you keep the magazine at full capacity, for an extended period of time, and not used during that time?

As it relates to the question, mine are legal, so they don't fit either of the above     8)

I don't know for sure , so I went looking and found this discussion , so therre is some controversy.

In my opinion, much depends on the quality of the spring that you start with.

With a side arm you don't need to keep that many mags full. Just buy more than you need and recycle. With a long gun that uses a 20 round mag, only put 18 rounds in it. Take the mag apart every once in a while, run a lightly oiled rag over the spring, put it back together  , and reload with 18 rounds. When you load the mag put a tracer round in about every 5th round. If you have a permit to buy tracers.

Handle the weapon everyday. Go to the range at least once a week. Don't leave the range until you've noticed something you never noticed before. If you don't learn something every time you shoot, that means you're not trying to get better, and you're just wasting your time.

Well said!

That is a good general  principal , applicable to many things.

This sounds like an even better argument for wanking off, because ammunition is expensive, and wanking is free.
A hobby that demands weekly attention is more like a religion.

I fail to see why anyone needs 18 bullets for self-defense.

See what I mean??.  Try not to get your blood pressure into such a twit, as to be so bewildered as to what someone else needs or doesn't need.  Not your call, as it's called freedom.

Do you have an agreement with the people who will attack you ?

An agreement to the effect that they will never attack you in groups ?

You could make the same justification for buying a dozen bazookas.

No one needs 18 bullets. And I am free, free, free to say it.

And no one has ever claimed you couldn't.  In this country everyone is free to make ignorant statements and/or elitist proclamations, of what someone else supposedly needs or doesn't need.

Are Bazookas indeed forbidden?

Bazookas are an American invention and were cobbled together in the first instance by a couple of guys in a garage.

If this had been forbidden effectively , think of all the Panzer troopers that could have been saved.
