Texas Gov. Rick Perry:
"Americans have no right to freedom from religion"

By Eric W. Dolan

Thursday, June 13, 2013

During an announcement of the signing of the so-called "Merry Christmas Bill," Texas Gov. Rick Perry and state Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) said Thursday that freedom from religion was not included in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

"I'm proud we are standing up for religious freedom in our state," Perry said. "Freedom of religion doesn't mean freedom from religion."

The new law states that students and school officials have the right to use religious greetings like "Merry Christmas" and display various religious holiday symbols on school grounds.

"I think it was Thomas Jefferson who said the price of liberty is eternal vigilance," Nichols remarked. "One of those freedoms is the freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and as the governor was saying the Constitution refers to the freedom of religion, not the freedom from religion."

"So, challenges to these freedoms that we enjoy can come in a lot of different ways," the state senator continued. "They can come in very large ways like the war on terror or our freedoms can be taken away in small ways like the removal of a Christmas tree from a classroom."

Yes we DO have a right to freedom from religion.

We have the right not to have our children compelled to pray to Jesus, Allah, Yahweh, Satan or the Flying Spaghetti Monster in public schools.

We have the right not to be led in prayers to Jesus for victory in HS sports events.

We have the right to insist that our taxes not be spent on manger scenes for the courthouse lawn.

As for "Merry Christmas" signs, that is no big deal, because it is not proselytizing.

Governor Goodhair is an ass. The entire country is aware of  his asininity. If I were a Texan, I would be ashamed of him and Ted Cruz as well.  Grandstanding morons, both of them.

SIRS STRAWMAN ALERT!
No one compels children to pray....who is seriously advocating that?.....Source?
once again the Godless Leftist don't like "2EachHisOwn"....pray or dont pray....
And in Texas we say....stick it where the sun dont shine control freaks!

Frankly even if the country doesn't approve....
we dont care what the country thinks....we really don't.
I am quite hopeful Rick Perry will lead Texas when we depart the Union.

Speaking of Senator Ted Cruz....

I rate Alan Dershowitz to be one of the greater assholes of academia. Ted Cruz is a grandstanding bagger idiot. You should droop your Stetsons in shame for electing such a dolt. Wasn;t there anyone born in Texas that had a name ending in Z better than that? ¡Qué pendejada!

Texas will leave the Union, get serious! Texas tried both independence and secession, and neither worked.

By a Republican!
Obama/Biden/Pelosi are no Lincoln.
This time the William Tecumseh Sherman types will be on our side.
Obama and the Leftist Taxocrats dont have the stomach for 500K dead this time around.
Texas will leave and hopefully others with very little fanfare.
It's gonna be funny to watch the leeches left with nobody to tax!

Howdy, cowboy

 June 14, 2013

A Texas-sized burr has just landed under the saddle of Andrew Cuomo. Its name is Rick Perry. On Sunday, the Texas governor will kick off a five-day visit with a message he?s already running in local media:

If you?re tired of the same old recipe of over-taxation, over-regulation and frivolous litigation, get out before you go broke. Texas is calling . . . your opportunity awaits.

Even the name of the Texas Web site for Perry?s campaign ? TexasWideOpenForBusiness.com ? is a dig at our governor?s ?New York Open for Business? campaign. This isn?t Perry?s first rodeo, either. He?s taken the same message to other high-tax blue states from California to Illinois, pointing out the many advantages of Texas: no state income tax, light regulation and a whole lot more jobs and opportunity.

Not that Cuomo?s rolling over. To the contrary, he?s been trying to use the zero income-tax rate in Texas as a reason New York?s Legislature should pass his plan to create tax-free zones around mostly upstate universities. ?Talk about a move overnight that would level the playing field, that?s the tax-free zones,? Cuomo said at a press conference this week.

Give the governor credit for recognizing what so many others in Albany do not: We must compete with other states and other countries for capital and enterprise.

Unfortunately, the tax-free zones touted by Cuomo only highlight the merits of Perry?s argument. While New York politicians finagle with the tax code to carve out special treatment for favored enterprises, the whole state of Texas is a tax-free zone. Maybe that?s why $1.6 billion in adjusted gross income relocated from New York to Texas from 1992 to 2010, according to Travis Brown?s ?How Money Walks.?

Now, the last thing we want to see is even more businesses and individuals fleeing New York. But as big believers in competition, we welcome Gov. Perry. And we will all know the Empire State is really as open for business as Gov. Cuomo claims when a New York governor has a message he can sell in Houston.

SIRS we'd be honored to have such a freedom loving Patriot as you become a Texan!

My brother in California is astounded at the price of housing in Tx vs CA.
As a business owner he is also shocked at Cali Bureaucrats hassling him constantly.
We never see bureaucrats here except the TSA/Homeland Security maybe once a year.
And we never see Texas bureaucrats.....they know better!

His house is worth about 900K in Cali would not be more than $250K here in Dallas.

The entire country knows that Rick Goodhair Perry is a dimwitted bullshitter who could not even remember why he was running for president.

Texas will never secede. In 20 years or so,  the Chicanos will take over, outvote the Anglos and we won't have to think of Texas as the Special Needs Shortbus  State.

But....but.....what about the gulf coast?  Wife and I like the option of being near large bodies of warm waters (having just returned from a 10year anniversary trip to the tropics   8)  )

Feel for "Christians". The Chicanos are drumming at his gates. His narrow White ass will be swiftly kicked soon. And deservedly so.
