Minimum Wage and Hobby Lobby
« on: March 26, 2014, 05:15:06 PM »
http://www.christianpost.com/news/hobby-lobby-raises-minimum-wage-to-14-for-full-time-employees-94233/

Quote
"We know that if we reward our employees for their hard work, we will be rewarded in turn with their loyalty and dedication to their job and to our customers," he added.

Hobby lobby, one of America's largest privately owned companies headquartered in Oklahoma City, Okla., employs 22,000 workers in 525 stores nationwide. This is the fifth successive year the company has increased wages for hourly paid full-time workers and the fourth for those working part-time. In 2012, full-time workers were paid $13 per hour while part-time workers earned $9. Full-time employees at Hobby Lobby and its affiliate now earn nearly two times more than the national minimum wage set at $7.25 per hour.

"As a family-owned business, we want our employees to feel like they are part of a family," said Green. "This is one way we can show our appreciation for their work and make them feel like part of a team."

This suggests that Hobby Lobby could quite easily avoid the notoriety and trouble involved in taking their objections to court , by paying a dollar an hour less and giving the difference to the IRS as the fine for offering a partial insurance package .

Or perhaps the even smaller fine for offering no insurance at all, wow, sirs I had to read that one twice.

The whole idea that a corporation can have a religion is simply daffy.

People are people. Corporations are not people. Corporations have the potential to be immortal and should not be concerned with more than making money or fulfilling their mission statement. The Hobby Lobby is not a religious organization. It cannot claim to be a religious organization and more than you can convincingly claim to be a duck.

Who died and gave you the power to decide what a corporation is or isn't, or its limits as to how it can practice??  It can be a branch of small businesses, and it sure as hell can be a one that has a religious foundation.  In fact, it has a 1st amendment right to chose to do precisely that     :o

We all know that God gave His Only Begotten Son to atone for the sins that Hobby Lobby, JP Morgan and yes, Fox "News" had not yet committed. They will all be Washed in the Blood of the Lamb, and of course, you will get to enjoy their fine services in Heaven.

Ignoring your ongoing persevering of the groin region, corporations are made up of nothing BUT humans.

Again, the individuals have religious rights to their own bodies. No corporation owns its employees or has a right to their bodies based on the corporation's religion. That is just stupid.

And again, just as was affirmed by the Supreme Court as it relates to "corporations" and campaign donations, individuals that make up corporations, have an absolute 1st amendment right.  You don't like it......amend the Constitution

I bet you would be all for a corporation having the right to FIRE a women that had an abortion as well. Corporations are not people. They do not vote. Probate laws do not apply to them. They cannot be thrown in jail.
