The perfect beauty would be something like a human Barbie. She might not make it as a model, because she is not sufficiently different from the ideal to be distinctive. The successful model might have a beauty mark, fuller eyebrows, a different hairline or a dimple that make her more exotic and therefore more marketable. I see ads in the New Yorker and in women's magazine for clothes and the clothes are just plain ugly. One could easily get nearly the same effect with $15 and A 30 minute search in a Goodwill store. The model apparently adds something to the clothes that makes women want to buy them. The ad, of course, has little effect on me, as it was not designed for me.
