ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York City spends more than a million dollars every year to distribute free condoms to combat unintended pregnancies and diseases such as AIDS.


Yet city police are allowed to confiscate those very condoms as evidence of prostitution.

That conflict is behind the latest legislative proposal to make New York the first state to prohibit condoms — specifically the existence of multiple condoms — from being used as evidence in prostitution cases, a widespread practice that advocates say undermines decades of public health goals.

the thing about condoms that people don`t understand is the wrong man is using them. the guys we don`t want in our gene pool most likely don`t want to wear them.

   Aaaaand in the same city you can be arrested and prosecuted for prostitution , with a supply of condoms as evidence against you.

Of course, carrying a dozen or fewer is all anyone with even major passion could use.

    So having a large supply really does indicate prostitution?

     You know that if the police find a large sum of cash on you , they can keep it until you can prove you own it.

I imagine that women (and perhaps drag queens) would be most likely to be accused of prostitution based on a condom count.

A large sum of money would probably be $1000 or more. If you look like a tourist, the chances of being stopped are next to nil.
We do have some dumb cops here, and some bullies on the force as well.
I have never been stopped for anything except traffic offenses, 2 in 38 years.
