So the best defense of the Administration might be that it was actually stupid, and not uncaring or malicious.

You are a less than world-class prick. Perhaps you might make Prick 0f the Block some day.

What is so bad about Issa?

Quote
Representatives Darrell Issa (CA-49), Jim Sensenbrenner (WI-5), Trent Franks (AZ-08), Blake Farenthold (TX-27), Trey Gowdy (SC-04), Raul Labrador (ID-01) and Ted Poe (TX-02) sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. urging an investigation of the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, for lying to Congress while testifying before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in March of 2013.

“Director Clapper’s willful lie under oath fuels the unhealthy cynicism and distrust that citizens feel toward their government and undermines Congress’s ability to perform its Constitutional function,” the Members write in their letter to Holder. “There are differences of opinion about the propriety of the NSA’s data collection programs.  There can be no disagreement, however, on the basic premise that congressional witnesses must answer truthfully.”

“Congressional oversight depends on truthful testimony—witnesses cannot be allowed to lie to Congress.  Accordingly, we request you investigate Director of National Intelligence James Clapper’s ‘erroneous’ statements to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence earlier this year.”

At a March 12, 2013 Senate Select Committee on Intelligence hearing, Director Clapper was asked if, “the NSA collected any type of data at all on millions of hundreds of millions of Americans” to which he responded with, “No, Sir.”  Four months later, in June 2013, after the Snowden leaks publicly exposed Clapper’s testimony as false, Clapper finally retracted his remarks and wrote, “My response was clearly erroneous, for which I apologize.”

As I said, he is a prick. Google his bio on Wikipedia and multitudinous acts of prickishness will be found.

Oh well, no excuse for that is there?

Being as the Republican'ts are piss-poor at running this country, it hardly speaks well for him.

Issa is some sort of power hungry egotist. After participating in the recall of Gov Gray Davis, Issa was poised to run for governor. When Ahnold announced he would run, Issa withdrew, and broke down and cried.

This is how easy it is to simply throw out opinion-only proclamations:

Being as the Demawon'ts are piss-poor at running this country, it hardly speaks well for them.
*insert any DC Democrat politician's name here* is some sort of power hungry egotist.

So....how do we debate that?    :o

There are some interesting and some unflattering details about Issa on his Wikipedia page.

Is he really a bad guy?

Perhaps, I don't think him good, just because he chose to ride the elephant into Congress.

I don't think him totally bad for having some splotches on his record either.

What we want of a congressman is worthy to discuss.

They all have imperfection, they are all keen on themselves, they are mostly wealthy.

Other sorts of people are less motivated and able to become congressmen/ senators / presidents.

So accepting that we are never offered saints to vote for, what are we trying to elect ?
