Steve seems to be having an argument with the conservatives that live in his head. He needs a real conservative POV to observe.

I would extend an invitation to him to converse here if I could.

We could be polite ,couldn't we?

He does a better job of critique in "Five stupid things about Liberals".

This seems natural, he probably speaks to Liberals and doesn't need to imagine the details of the subject.

I agree with him entirely on what he says about Liberals.

No, he is right.

New age spiritualism is just silly, so is homeopathic medicine.  It is harmless, but also useless. I don't buy organic veggies, ever. e Occupy Movement produced very little, he is right about that. They had no plan. The teabaggers have plans, They have stupid, unworkable, idiotic plans, but at least they have plans.

Obama will go down as a great president eventually, because of healthcare. Not because it is such a great plan to start with, but because he got the ball rolling.

   Got the ball rolling?

That would qualify as a stupid thing right there!

    Conservatives are not against change.

Notice the period there , there is a "but" coming , but it is entirely false to say that conservatives hate change , this is something that liberals have been getting wrong a lot, and there are serious consequences to getting this concept so badly backwards.

Conservatives are not  against change, are not afraid of change , are often advocates of change!

But.......

   We do not worship change.

There must be a reason to change , and it helps to have a plan for the process!

Change for the sake of change itself is a liberal vice.

You have to be a liberal to smash something that is working on the faith that the shards will land in a better configuration .

Liberals think so badly and wrongly that conservatives are against change that they are willing to do things like the affordable health care act with practically no  coordination in the writing of the bill because it is worth wile to them to "get the ball rolling" even if it destroys all equilibrium and has no understandable process to move in a positive direction!

If those ten features of Obamacare which everyone likes had been introduced as ten short bills , or even one bill with ten clauses , it could have been written on  a few sheets of paper , would have left most of the previous system intact and would have been easy to tweak in following years.

But that would have been the Conservative way, to make the changes evolutionary.

The liberal way is on display in the way that Obamacare was written, more important to get the ball rolling than to choose the path of the ball at all.

So why is homeopathic medicine "silly"?

So why is homeopathic medicine "silly"?

===================================
Because it DOES NOT WORK. It costs money and it does not produce the desired results.

I suppose that for some it has a placebo effect, but I have tried it and it DID NOT WORK.

For the past 30 years, when I have any ailment, I go to the doctor (MD) He gives me a prescription, I follow the directions to the letter and I am cured.

I tried homeopathic cures for coughs and flus and aches and pains and they produced no change at all. And of course, they are not guaranteed, either.

I understand the theory of homeopathic medicine. I even read books on it. It never produced a desired result. So I say that it is silly.

I do not worship change, either. But changes are needed to prevent banks and mortgages bundlers from causing another depression,
Changes are needed when people can be bankrupted just trying to stay healthy.
Changes are needed when wars are provoked and fought for no good reason.

Lets make changes , because change never causes problems?

There are steps up and there are steps down , there is a need to be discerning and a need to understand a baseline.

To conservatives Liberals seem willy nilly  too eager to make change that they don't understand to systems that they do not understand.

I suppose that you could find a mechanic willing to change your gasoline internal combustion car into a kerosene burning turbine, but a conservative would want a mechanic that really understood both.

The conservative stance on change is not fear , it is skepticism.

BINGO

(for the otherwise less informed, that'd be again sirs recognizing that someone else is right about something)

The conservative stance is generally not skepticism nor fear, but GREED.

I'll take greed over the Liberal POWER/CONTROL stance, every day of the week, and twice again on Sunday

Is the party of confiscation unaffected by greed?

Remember that of the top ten wealthiest congressmen eight are Democrats.
