Got the ball rolling?
That would qualify as a stupid thing right there!
Conservatives are not against change.
Notice the period there , there is a "but" coming , but it is entirely false to say that conservatives hate change , this is something that liberals have been getting wrong a lot, and there are serious consequences to getting this concept so badly backwards.
Conservatives are not against change, are not afraid of change , are often advocates of change!
But.......
We do not worship change.
There must be a reason to change , and it helps to have a plan for the process!
Change for the sake of change itself is a liberal vice.
You have to be a liberal to smash something that is working on the faith that the shards will land in a better configuration .
Liberals think so badly and wrongly that conservatives are against change that they are willing to do things like the affordable health care act with practically no coordination in the writing of the bill because it is worth wile to them to "get the ball rolling" even if it destroys all equilibrium and has no understandable process to move in a positive direction!
If those ten features of Obamacare which everyone likes had been introduced as ten short bills , or even one bill with ten clauses , it could have been written on a few sheets of paper , would have left most of the previous system intact and would have been easy to tweak in following years.
But that would have been the Conservative way, to make the changes evolutionary.
The liberal way is on display in the way that Obamacare was written, more important to get the ball rolling than to choose the path of the ball at all.
