There is no way, of course, that Obama would ask for a travel ban on Israel.

You make up the dumbest crap. Why do you do that?

He already has done that....that's the point!
Obama will easily drop selected flight bans on Israel
But refuses to use one on Liberia when Ebola is being brought into our country!

And suppose that he did not do this, and a whole planeload of Jews was blown up. Then you would be bitching because he failed to suspend flights. Israel would start another invasion of Gaza and whack another thousand people, most of them innocent.

24 hours is hardly the same thing as a ban on a month or more of flights from three countries. Most people coming from Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia doe not fly direct, anyway.

I think this is a pretty small issue , it might even be moot.

There are no scheduled flights to the three countries of West Africa,( Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea) most affected right now.

There can't be much of a ban on connecting flights either, that would be like a ban on flight.

Chartered flights are necessary but are pretty easy to handle in their small numbers so far.

Some countries that did have direct flights have reduced or stopped them , this probably helps , and we should know these facts , but we don't control it.

Everyone in the airport being monitored for fever is probably possible, and a faster test for Ebola virus would be very useful, so would a vaccine.

Ebola is one thing, danger from Palestinians rockets is something else.

Banning flights from Africa would not be useful in controlling Ebola.

The Liberian that died in Dallas did not know he was infected, and when he went to the hospital, they sent him home. They might have saved him had they not done that.

Oh bullshit....this guy knew he was most likely infected
that's why he came here....he lied and now Americans
pay the price.

BTW....even-though flights go through Europe.
passports can be inspected and passenegers
denied access to flights to the United States.

If Obama allows many more of these half-wits
in to infect more Americans a travel ban will soon be in place.
I am predicting Obama will be forced to
place a travel ban within 2 weeks.

The American people agree and want a travel ban!

It would not accomplish the goal of preventing the spread of the disease.

The goal would be to prevent the spread of the disease.....into the U.S.

Why not?

It would seem that anything that slowed the dispersal of infected persons would be useful .

What did we learn while Smallpox and polio mellitus was being fought?

So far as I know, no borders were closed against polio or smallpox.

And no one is claiming we "close the borders", as in not allowing ANYONE in, either     ::)

Of course not, since it is utterly impossible.

This country does not have "open borders" . You can easily prove this for yourself, just trot over to Tijuana and see how easy it is to get back into the US without having to present an ID to the Border Patrol. The US Mexico border is NOT an "open border"

Exactly....once again, arguing a point, NO ONE IS MAKING.  This country does have advocates of making it as easy as possible to enter this country, ANYWHERE, not just thru Tijuana....literally just waving some credential, while passing by.  THAT's what is meant as open borders

The point being here that it is in the best interest of the U.S. to more strictly enforce our borders and immigration policy, in light of increased terrorist activity and now the Ebola debacle.  NOT to make them even more porous.  That doesn't equate to closing them to everyone, professor literal, but it does include a position of limiting, if not temporarily ceasing flights into the U.S. from locations that came out of West Africa.  Try arguing a point actually being made, for a change
