I think I saw a map of Illinois, where Quinn just lost.......and only by a little....but nearly the entire state was red....just a tiny sliver that was blue, but it was the Chicago region, and that county alone almost gave Quinn the win

Democrats have learned to appeal to the urban voter much more than the rural voter.

Unfortunately they have not really learned how to make a city healthy.

Detroit is doing better , but its recovery is fragile .

I like the way this guy thinks.

Quote
The most fundamental difference between the data that conservatives prefer—that the 10 poorest cities are longtime Democratic strongholds—and the data that liberals will be more inclined to cite—that the 10 poorest states are predominantly Republican, is that conservatives can point to actual policies that Democrats implemented that contributed to the impoverishment of the cities, while the liberals cannot point to specific GOP policies that have caused the poorer states to lag behind.

The probelm we Republicans have is known as the BIG BLUE WALL.

The Big Blue Wall is a major problem in national elections for us.

In fact some pundits already claim the Republicans may be able
to control the House and Senate going forward but because of
the Big Blue Wall it will become increasing difficult to win the White House.

"In 2016 we face the "Big Blue Wall", the 18 states (plus Washington, D.C.) that have gone for the Democratic presidential candidate six elections in a row. They add up to 242 electoral votes, leaving the Democrats needing just 28 of the 183 electoral votes in the 18 tossup states. Republicans couldn't put any Senate races in those Blue Wall states in play. Thus the GOP "strategy" is essentially to be perfect in purple states  not a game plan with a high probability of success."

Could it be suggested that they do good work?

Perhaps do good work and explain it clearly?

It will be increasingly difficult to overcome
the SantaClausCrats at the national level,
but nothing is impossible.

You will see a Hispanic on the GOP ticket in 2016,
put it in the bank!

Not Dr. Carson?

Or will both the president and the vice be less male and WASP than usual?

I love Dr. Carson, but even-though I see it as a plus to having NEVER held elective
office....I just don't see the American People electing a President with no elective office
experience. I guess Ross Perot tried that.....

I could see a Marco Rubio/Scott Walker ticket coming together.
North/South Balance
Senate and Executive Experience
Both from VERY IMPORTANT states for the GOP to have a chance to win.

I would so rather see someone with executive experience vs legislative, at the top of the ticket.   Give me a governor over a senator any & every day of the week

Rubio and Walker: a double-asshole ticket.

Yeah, that should be a real winner.

Most of the people in this country live in cities. The gophers and the groundhogs outnumber the people in much of this country.

But what makes the rural people see the world so differently?

Why can't urbanites get a grip on reality?

Rural people depend on different subsidies.
They depend on silly crap like rules requiring ethanol in gasoline.
