Elizabeth Louten
« on: December 01, 2014, 07:39:32 PM »
Has apologized , and retired.

There is an unwritten rule that the children of the Whitehouse don't get negative Press.

I agree with this unwritten rule, the public eye can be very cruel and these girls do not need or deserve additional difficulty coping with it.

Neither should this rule be forgotten in the future, not by the press , not by congressmen, not even by lowly congressional aides.

Everyone with a megaphone should behave better than this , lest this rule need be written.

If Elizabeth Louten has learned her lesson, that is good , but mind this all the rest of you snarky loudmouths.

I agree that this woman was completely out of line. In addition to that, Malia and Sasha were NOT dressed to go clubbing, they were modestly dressed in what student wear to school. The Pardoning of the Turkey Day has to be the silliest of the now-obligatory national customs. Looking bored is certainly not an unusual reaction to this ceremony.

It makes no sense even from the turkeys point of view.  I see nothing even remotely wrong with the personal behavior of the President or his family.

It made me question where Elizabeth Louten got her experience at bar hopping. Ann Coulter says worse crap every day, but she is not affiliated with any network.

I just looked at facebook tea party site on this matter and they largely agree on her statement about the girls dress are wrong but at such a degree it`s ridiculous. meaning true we here go a touch far but I think we`re very minor compared to outside our safe forum. the party extreme is much further.

The way that the President's daughters dress should not be of any political interest to anyone. They were dressed decently and they said nothing.  What Elizabeth Louten was saying was that she personally does not believe that President Obama is serving the nation properly by having Black daughters. He should have tried harder and had White daughters who could wear long sleeved sweaters and skirts and look stylish.

According to the unwritten laws of popular American culture, Black people are supposed to be stylish unless they are bums. On the old Miami Vice program, Sonny Crockett, the White guy, got away with all sorts of  extremely casual clothes, while his Black partner "Rico" Tubbs was always dressed much more stylishly.  I imagine that is why Louten thought they were wearing tacky clothes made this statement.

I didn't get excited about people criticizing President Obama's wardrobe.

     Nor the first lady's wardrobe.

Prattle is just par for the course .

I object mostly because the daughters are young enough that such sad commentary can cause a real harm.

This kind of thing isn't good for lots of young people , and I am not for adults bullying any young people for the sake of a joke.

But this is especially bad for the young unfortunate enough to belong to the very famous or controversial, which always describes the president.

While it it is painful enough for ordinary young folks to endure the dripping annoyance of the common bully, being the focus of the nation , the potential of multiplying that bullying to national numbers is awesomely bad.

Notice also how the MSM is devoting double the time & energy reporting this, than.....one of the chief architects of Obamacare, declaring how they managed to pull the wool over the CBO & the rest of the country, in order to get it passed

Yes.

Only a few people would disagree that being mean to the children of the White House is a bad idea.

So it is an easy one.

Not if the parties were reversed, or the person was being mean to the Palin children

There must always be symmetry in the Bizarro world of sirs.
I can't recall reading where anyone has ever criticized any of the Plain kids' wardrobes.

Again with the symmetry idiocy.  Sirs isn't looking for symmetry.  sirs is looking for honesty & objectivity when it comes to news reporting, minus the overt liberal bias.  I realize the bias favors you and your ilk, but that doesn't translate that I want an equal amount of conservative bias in news reporting.  I want objective reporting MINUS ANY BIAS, which include the potential of making anyone look bad.....even the 1st Black President of the U.S.

And yes, the Palins have been ridiculed multiple times, not just in wardrobe, but even had one news commentator laughing after reporting how Bristol Palin was alledging a sexual assault.  Can you imagine the outrage if some Fox News reporter chucked at some serious event involving one of the Obama daughters??  Being fired would be the least of their worries

I think I remember the laughing reporter apologizing later when she was caught laughing at some Palin misfortune.

    Yes , this came soon.
There is good reason to be even handed.

Children love their parents , but really are not otherwise political.

This is a long list of Palin harassments and similar things.

What you'll likely get in response Plane is 2-fold rationalization
1) that Palin isn't the President, so that supposedly makes the ridicule ok
2) that Palin is somehow dumb, and thus justifiably brings about the ridicule.  Even if its aimed at her children

I'll sit back and watch

Send Palin money so she can run for president. That would be amusing.
