There are no laws against treating poultry inhumanely.
There are such laws , but they aren't tight enough to make poultry really comfortable.
"Free range " birds are available at premium prices , the chickens that are mass produced are just a lot cheaper.
Having a delicious protein that is easily affordable serves the people well , tho it reduces the quality of life for the birds .
This is going to bite us eventually , the crowded birds are soaking up a lot of antibiotics and reducing the potency of the antibiotics.
I imagine that a lot of PETA people do not vote at all.
