I did not say that government subsidies were a bad thing. But they are clearly money from the government to a citizen, Therefore a person whose family is receiving largesse from the government is simply hypocritical to claim that they are all for self-sufficiency, because they are not.  The Amish are largely self-sufficient, but Ernst is not. She was, in my opinion, a poor choice of a speaker.  Mitch McConnell playing "Yankee Doodle" on a kazoo would have been about as forceful, and MUCH more amusing.

I did not say that government subsidies were a bad thing.

They're only bad when they assist a Republican's family.

What did Joni Ernst say on this subject that excites accusations of hypocrisy?

Is she going to be responsible for everything  ever said by a Republican ?

The same way she is responsible for every government loan , insurance or grant ever applied for by anyone in her family?

This puts a large load in the scattergun.

I was only pointing out that her speech sucked deeply, and that she is not even an approximation of the image that the GOP made for her.

She was picked for this speech because she was a compromise between the Country Club core of the party and the wackadoodle teabagger elements. The former have no  one who can deliver any sort of rational speech (except perhaps Jebby, but his candidacy ruled him out), and the major 'baggers capable of delivering a meaningful speech (Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, to name two), would infuriate more people than they would elate. And, of course, the party wanted to show that it does not hate women. I bet Mia Love was considered too extreme (not her issues, her color). Ernst was chosen by a process of elimination. And the process in this case was more like elimination in the digestive sense.

I am pretty Ernst she will never be chosen for any major speech again. Mark my words.

I simply cannot imagine this woman commanding a single troop. Perhaps she has a Jeckyll & Hyde personality, and is hiding Hyde.

I think she would be an ideal Den Mother, though.

I note that, other than CU4 claiming in his knee jerk way that she ought to be president, not one of you righties defended her or her utterly forgettable message.

CU4 claiming in his knee jerk way that she ought to be president

Can you source this ridiculous erroneous claim?

Nice to see you admit that Joanie Ernst for President is a ridiculous idea. I agree 100%.
I would never have voted for her to serve in the Senate.

As for her being president, just look through your previous posts, it's there somewhere. It was obviously a knee jerk reaction, like when you were all gaga over Charlie Crist way back when.

I am sorry if I offended anyone. Someone said she ought to be president.

She was a pretty awful choice to rebut Obama's excellent speech. But there are over a dozen Republicans who think they should be president.

I see Newt Gingrich is finally not in the running, which would be really bad for comic relief, if not for Donald Trump, who seems to be thrilled about the idea of being thought of as a candidate or president, but hates the idea of actually coming clean enough with his many devious deals to become an actual candidate.

He has not proposed putting a base on the Moon, unfortunately. A lunar casino would certainly make it a more desirable tourist attraction.

Oh so I have to finally "admit" something I never said or even implied?....lol
I've never even heard of this woman from a tiny populated state.
Obama as President is a ridiculous idea & I would have never voted for him to serve in the Senate.

I have finally realized why Joni Ernst seemed so familiar!

She is a dead ringer in her manner of speaking and her chirpy little voice for the women on the Home Shopping Network!

One of those women who can get nearly orgasmic as she strokes a ring, a necklace, a cardigan, a  special juice extractor.

Someone said she ought to be president.

That was me, in a fit of enthusiasm as she finished her speech.

Think tho, of the people we have elected in recent years.

Is the average of recent presidents really a very high standard that she is hopeless to match?

Hardly.

You are far more easily impressed than I had suspected if this mindless chirpy shill excited you.
