Again. that is idiotic. If there were fewer guns, there would be fewer people shot.

That just doesn't seem to be true at all.

If you selected the more responsible half of the gun owners and collected their guns , the number of guns would be down 50%, but shooting irresponsibly would probably rise 1000%.

By the way , weren't there about half so many guns (in the USA) as now back when Clinton was elected , but because most of the growth in gun ownership is in responsible hands shooting is actually down.

Since the population is up, the shootings per capata  is far down.

You cannot just quote intentional homicides: that is a copout: you also must include the gun deaths that happen when little Joey shoots his mom or when little Bobby shoots the neighbor's kids.

Fine, if you think Brazilians are less accident prone than we are, that might work.

Go ahead and make the comparison, but I would bet we still don't make the top ten.

People getting shot is a BAD thing.

It would be great if we were in the BOTTOM ten.

And people being saved from injury, being shot, or even death, with the use of a gun, is a GOOD thing

This country is not number one in the fewest of gun deaths, that is the point.

Have you talked with the Supreme Being about gun ownership recently?

Actually, the point is if a gun is used to save a life, even if a bad guy is shot in the process, that's a GOOD thing.  And being that exponentially more lives are saved using a gun, than those "gun deaths", is also a GOOD thing.....at least in THIS country

THAT is the point

If it were true.

The main reason there are so many gun deaths in this country is because there are so many guns. All you have to do is compare the statistics with other countries that do NOT have as many guns.

If it were true.

Which it factually is

The main reason there are so many gun deaths in this country is because there are so many guns.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people using all sorts of items, everything from cars to fists.  A gun is simply a tool in that endeavor.  You talk about comparing statistics, that if you bothered to put down your anti 2nd amendment blinders for 2 seconds, and actually aknowedge the staticists that demonstrate MORE lives are saved using a gun, than those taken, you wouldn't come across as being so ignorant, when this issue is brought up.

So yea, in a VACUUM, where there are less guns, there is likely less gun related deaths.  We don't live in a vacuum however.  We live in the U.S., with many rights, that you apparently can't stand.  That's just tough.  Move to a country that infringes on more of your freedoms than this country, if you want that so bad.  But in THIS country, not only do we have a right to firearms, but the stats reinforce how more lives are saved with that tool, vs those that are taken by that same tool

The second amendment is simply an anachronism, like slavery and prohibition.

If it were, which it isn't, it even has the mechanisms to change/amend it.  Knock your socks off.  Oh, btw, I think your right to free speech is bogus & anachronistic....like slavery & prohibition.  You shouldn't be able to say anything that might "hurt" my feelings

There is no real reason to discuss guns and abortion with you, you are incapable of logical reasoning,

You prefer knife deaths or hammer deaths?

According to the facts I can find the USA is below the world average for violence, you might find better charts, and if you do I will be interested.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate
"unlawful death purposefully inflicted on a person by another person".
rate per 100,000 population per year
(acts of war and terrorism seem to be another category, but I am not sure)

Monaco 0.0
Liechtenstein 0.0
Singapore 0.2
Japan 0.3
 Iceland 0.3
French Polynesia (France) 0.4(Does this mean Tahiti?)
Hong Kong 0.4
Bahrain 0.5
 Indonesia 0.6
Switzerland 0.6  Top Ten!

Macao 0.7
Algeria 0.7
Sweden 0.7
San Marino 0.7
Slovenia 0.7
 Spain 0.8
Denmark 0.8
 Luxembourg 0.8
South Korea 0.9
 Italy 0.9
 Austria 0.9
 Netherlands 0.9
 New Zealand 0.9

Cut about twenty more countries....

United States 4.7
(   World 6.2 )

Cut about seventy....

Bahamas 29.8
Colombia 30.8
South Africa 31.0
Swaziland 33.8
Saint Kitts and Nevis 33.6
  Lesotho 38.0
Jamaica 39.3
Guatemala 39.9
El Salvador 41.2
 Belize 44.7
United States Virgin Islands (US) 52.6
Venezuela 53.7
 Honduras 90.4

So we have FOUR TIMES the rate of all of the top ten. FOURTEEN TIMES the rate in Japan.

French Polynesia includes Tahiti and a large number of islands with small populations. Total population is just over a quarter million.

    Marquesas Islands
    Society Islands
    Tuamotu Archipelago
Gambier Islands sometimes considered part of the Tuamotu Archipelago
    Austral Islands

Bass Islands often considered part of the Austral Islands

Aside from Tahiti, some other important atolls, islands, and island groups in French Polynesia are: Ah?, Bora Bora, Hiva 'Oa, Huahine, Mai'ao, Maupiti, Meheti'a, Mo'orea, Nuku Hiva, Raiatea, Taha'a, Tetiaroa, Tupua'i, and T?pai.

And infinity times the rate of Monaco!

I consider your point refuted that the US is leading the world on violence because of guns , we are not in the worst ten or even the worst ninety.

Our rate of violent death is considerably less than the world average , less than 1/6 of any of the bottom twenty.

To answer the question that titles the thread "plenty of public decency aka Christian Mores".
