Professor....seriously. Not only is COPD far more than "trouble breathing", C was asking someone in the medical profession, to probably better his understanding of what it is. I know its your go-to response when someone asks you to back up one of your erroneous accusations, but this is a debate forum......not google. If he wanted to google it, he could have.
So, C, COPD is really a catch all term for any number of respiratory problems. Most often its some form of emphysema. Could also be severe Bronchits or chronic asthma. Could even be Pulmonary Fibrosis, which is perhaps the nastiest form of COPD. In any case, most COPD problems are a combination of factors degrading the ability to breathe. And dying of end stage COPD is not pretty, as the patient is literally grasping for air, despite being on however many liters of oxygen. When it becomes end stage, a person can really only survive on a ventilator.
And here's a a little trick, that anyone can do to get a sense of what its like to have COPD. Take a pair of straws, and for 10minutes, you can only inhale/exhale thru those straws. After 10minutes, you can remove the straws, retake a big gulp of air, and be thankful you don't have to work that hard to breathe, every waking moment
