President Obama watches Fox News too much.

And Fox seems to him to be playing the same game that he is playing, but it is working better for Fox?

I think he has missed the point that brought the Tea Party into prominence.

There is actually such a thing as a free Obama Phone, and there is actually such a thing as governmental waste, and there are real examples of government getting in the way of people trying to progress.

How, precisely is giving a person the use of a phone so they can find a job preventing anyone from progressing.
When people are out of work, they cannot pay their phone bills, and their phone gets disconnected. Even if they pay the bill moths later, they will have a different number.

It makes perfect sense to help- people keep the same phone number.

When people are out of work, they can't pay ANY bills.  So the hell what, if they have a different #.  Under your parameters, let's pay their mortgage, and auto payments.  They can't "progress" without those things   ::)   You're not helping anyone by giving them tax payer payed (as in NOT free) items, without any reciprocity.

SIRS so many people are gaming Obama's nanny-state system
a guy I know quite well just went on full disability
he could easily get many different types of jobs and work
for years he has lived with his parents in a million dollar house
he drives a 2013 BMW coupe
his Dad a retired doctor croaked in 2011
his Mom also a retired doctor is in her mid-eighties & not in good health
it's set up in the will he will inherit a paid for nice duplex, rent the other half for income
and he will get around $2500 a month trust money via an immediate annuity.
But hard-working Americans are paying this guy sitting in a million dollar house!

There is no way that all ripoffs can be prevented. No matter who is president, there will be abuses. But the billionaire with the Cayman Island accounts will  cost the government many times what the Beemer driver will.

And a basic cell telephone and a year of service  probably cost the government under $200. You deduct the interest on a $200,000 house from your income taxes, and you will cost the government many times that.

Naming other lame-ass examples does not justify other lameness.

So are you actually advocating that a cell phone has now become a "right"
and/or some kind of "gvt investment" thus should be provided to everyone that is below a certain income level?

Exactly!

The pool of unemployed is an asset to those who want to hire people for crappy low wage jobs. These people should have the right to at least apply for work in some meaningful way.

Just as we have janitors cleaning up after tourists at the Lincoln and Jefferson Monuments and the Smithsonian, we owe it to these people whose presence waiting to get a job the opportunity to do so.

You are cruel, hateful and soulless if you do not agree.  But I already knew that.

This is priceless education......into the mindset of a pure socialist.  The only thing missing was the knee jerk slur aimed at Republicans or sirs.

ITS NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S MONEY.  THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T WORK FOR THE MONEY THEY TAKE IN.  THE ONLY THING THE GOVERNMENT CAN DO IS TAKE MONEY FROM ITS CITIZENS, VIA TAXES, FEES, & FINES

You really think that if the Government taxes its citizens 99%, that all that money then "belongs to the Government"??  And yet, in the very same breath, home onwers, who worked their butts off to own a home, that when they apply for any deductions on interest, that's somehow robbing the Government??  The people in that scenario, ALREADY PAYED THEIR INCOME TAXES AND MORTGAGE PAYMENTS.  They're not getting anything "free" from the tax payers.  THAT's the difference in the 2 scenarios, the one you defend vs the one you villify.

Again, somehow the person who's been successful is the one that should be punished, by having to pay even higher taxes or receive less of their money back in deductions, so the Government can give more of that to others, without them having to do anything for it in return, outside of being perpetually poor and/or demonstrate consistently bad judgement in their decision making process.  Now its some right to have a phone??
