But...but...its the Gun dammit
« on: June 19, 2015, 04:03:50 PM »
When it comes to the issue of firearms, the 2nd amendment, and the use of guns in this country, the left goes into this hyperbolic mode of ignorance, using whatever tragedy to push a political agenda consistent with a socialist/fascist form of Government, where the people have less & less freedoms, and the Government has more and more control.  When it comes to the gun debate, it reaches near screeching levels, crying out MORE GUN CONTROL...MORE LIMITS TO OWNING GUNS....IF OUR POLICIES WERE IN PLACE, THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED....garbage like that

Putting aside all the facts that debunk so much of the shrill proclamations, top of it being that more lives are saved in this country with the use of a gun, than those take, we have the latest FACT, that puts their call for MORE gun control left toothless.  This SC shooter PASSED AN FBI NICS BACKGROUND CHECK, when he aquired the pistol.  In other words, backround checks simply won't stop mass murderers

So, what exactly is the "gun control" that the left is foaming at the mouth for, that would have prevented this tragedy, but doesn't gut the consitutional rights of every other law abiding citizen??

....and the answer is....absolutely nothing being proposed or pushed by the left would have prevented this.  A responsible parent would have been the only thing preventing these tragic murders from occuring

And yet in this country, as gun purchases & ownership goes up, violent crime comes down    :o

You see xo, guns are inanimate objects.  You could have 50 billion guns....and not one could shoot a person.  The numer of guns is irrelevent.  So, no, more guns don't equate to more people being shot.  Quite the opposite in fact, when the guns are in law abiding hands

Other countries have fewer guns, other countries have many fewer people killed with guns.

There ois a clear connection.

More guns equals more gun deaths.

Some of those will be the children of law abiding gun owners who forgot to put the damned things away.

Some will be whoever inherits the guns of deceased law abiding gun owners.

And other countries do not have the freedoms we have or our Constitution.  And your "so called connection" is contiunously debunked by the facts, that violent crime has been DECLINING in this country while gun ownership has been INCREASING

A gazillion guns, and not one will be able to shoot anyone else.  Your #'s game is moot

The more guns there are, the more people will be shot with guns.

Why would anyone think this?

I have never seen any evidence that there is a direct relationship between the number of guns and the number of shootings. There are several countries with fewer guns than we have , but more shooting percapata.

Since the US pretty much leads the world in gun availability , it is almost the case that ALL of the countries with more per capata shooting have fewer per capata guns.

There is no reason to think any other way.  People get shot because people get stupid and leave loaded guns lying around: the more guns there are, the more this will happen. The pistol has become the remote control for racists to shut up people they dislike.

There are no advanced countries that have as many guns per capita as we do that have more shootings.

Guns do not die: they remain after any "responsible" owner has died, and they can end up in anyone's hands. Children will die in gun accidents, Distraught people will shoot themselves.

The more guns there are, the more people get shot.

I predict that there will continue to be more people buying guns and that more people will get shot. These mass murder things happen about every four months.

It looks like the victim of this last bit of racist mayhem will be the rebel flag in public places.
Even the Governor who made it a big deal in her campaign says to take the stupid thing down.
It has become the racist swastika, like it or not.

You need to define "advanced".

Remember when you do that you are calling most of the New World "backwards" including Brazil, so this definition needs to be exacting to make it clear what is "advanced" about us and not advanced about all of the nations with more shooting going on.

Jeez, saying that the US has an advance economy is not insulting Brazil. Is Brazil reading this? Of course they are not.

I do not need to define shit. You know exactly what I mean by "advanced countries".
The G-7 economies. Countries in which you do not see horsecarts in the streets.

If the advancement you mean is economic then Brazil is doing pretty well.
What explains the countries that are not economically advanced at all , but have low murder rates?

I think the stats are very convincing of this fact- There is no direct relationship between the availability of guns and the amount of violence.

I would need to see better evidence of a direct connection between poverty and violence also.

Brazil is below Puerto Rico, which in turn is below even Mississippi. It is not yet a developed country. As with China and Russia, some parts are first world and much of it is third world.

There is not any major connection between poverty and violence. Violence is part of a culture. Giuns are a method of expressing violence.

The more guns there are, the more people will get shot. It is really very simple.
Fewrer guns meansd fewer peope get shot, unless you take the guns away from the police.

Fewer guns in law abiding hands, put more people at risk from the bad gun nuts, who will get their guns, regardless, and not wait for the police to show up

It's really quite that simple
